After disappointment and setbacks in the early rounds the two Richmond and Melbourne games look like upcoming blockbusters for the two 2018 preliminary final teams.

The prematch ANZAC Day Eve ceremony is a moving tribute to members of our armed services past and present. Watch here as the 2019 ANZAC Guernsey was presented to Ron Barassi in the lead up to ANZAC Day Eve. It’s not too late to get your Richmond v Melbourne tickets for this match.

The Anzac Day Eve game looms large as a crucial fixture for both clubs. It has been a rough start to the year for Richmond. The Tigers looked less than convincing in their opening win against Carlton and tragically lost their star defender Alex Rance to an ACL. It went from bad to worse for them as Jack Riewoldt broke his arm, Dusty struggled for form and Captain Cotchin pulled his hamstring.

Melbourne on the other hand can’t blame their 1-4 win record on injuries. They were off-season darlings after a fantastic 2018 but now find themselves with a must win game every weekend.

The Tigers and Dees have a 110 year history in the competition together with Melbourne an original breakaway 1896 team and Richmond joining the competition just twelve years later. The Tigers have eleven flags but Melbourne pip them on twelve.

They met each other in the 1940 Grand Final where the Tigers had beaten the Dees previously in the semi-final but were comprehensively beaten in the rematch. This was the first and last time they’ve played in a granny together.

Richmond and Melbourne at the MCG the night before Anzac Day has been a fixture since 2015 but this year the two sides are set to meet again at the G in round 20. It’s likely then to be a massive game again so make sure to get the best Melbourne v Richmond tickets in the house.
