The Saints’ AFL list for 2023 is now complete, with the club signing young forward Anthony Caminiti via the Supplemental Selection Period (SSP).

Caminiti was recruited from Carlton’s VFL program and has made a big impression on the team since joining just one week ago. According to Acting General Manager of Football David Misson, “Anthony made an immediate impact since joining our group and has proven he’s worth this spot despite the small timeframe.” It’s clear that Caminiti has what it takes to play at the highest level, and we’re all looking forward to seeing him continue to grow and progress throughout the pre-season and into the season proper.

At just 19 years old, Caminiti has already accomplished a lot. Over the summer, he was working two hospitality jobs and preparing to start an engineering degree at Melbourne University. But despite this, he still found time to train and pursue his dream of playing AFL. When asked about his signing, Caminiti said, “I’m so excited and grateful for this opportunity. It’s been a long road to get here, but now that I have this chance, I’m going to do everything in my power to prove this was the right decision.”

Caminiti’s signing comes just two days before the SSP deadline of 15 February, and it’s clear that he’s ready to hit the ground running. We can’t wait to see what he brings to the team and to watch him continue to develop as a player. Here’s to a great 2023 season for the Saints!
