Heritage Bank has been revealed as the new sponsor for the Gold Coast’s home ground, now known as Heritage Bank Stadium. The stadium will be the new home of the Gold Coast SUNS from 2023 and is set to host a wide range of events in the coming years, including concerts by Harry Styles and the ubiquitous P!NK, as well as AFL and AFLW matches, cricket, and community events.
Heritage Bank CEO Peter Lock sees the launch of the Heritage Bank Stadium name as a way to propel the brand further onto the national stage ahead of the bank’s merger with People’s Choice Credit Union on March 1.
Gold Coast SUNS Chief Executive Mark Evans expressed delight at welcoming Heritage Bank into the SUNS family and claims there are many parallels between the two organizations: community-focus, commitment to their members, and a shared desire to bring engaging and diverse content to the region.
Queensland Tourism and Sport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe welcomed the partnership between the SUNS and Heritage Bank, saying it is a boost for sport and tourism on the Gold Coast.
Controversial City of Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate also welcomed the investment, emphasising the community-focus of the SUNS and Heritage Bank Stadium as a key piece of community infrastructure which he claims would result in increased community volunteering hours and millions of dollars coming into the Gold Coast.
