Baker received a one-game ban for his collision with Sydney defender Lewis Melican during Richmond’s thrilling victory at the MCG on Sunday. The incident occurred late in the second quarter when Baker, going back with the flight of the ball, made contact with Melican’s head as the Swans player was attempting to take a defensive mark. Despite initially leaving the field, Melican returned shortly after and continued playing.

The Match Review Officer categorized the incident as careless conduct with medium impact and high contact, leading to the one-game ban for Baker. Richmond will now challenge this decision as they prepare to face St Kilda in Gather Round on Sunday.

On the other hand, St Kilda has accepted Marcus Windhager’s one-game suspension. Windhager’s ban came after he made high contact with Sam Durham during the Saints’ close defeat against Essendon in the second quarter.
