South Australian ruckman Harry Boyd has officially joined St Kilda’s playing list for the 2025 AFL season through the pre-season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP). The 26-year-old brings an impressive resume built across multiple state-league competitions, reflecting his relentless pursuit of an AFL career.
Boyd, originally from Shepparton, most recently played for Norwood in the SANFL, where he enjoyed a standout 2024 season. His exceptional performance earned him the prestigious Magarey Medal, shared with Port Adelaide’s Will Snelling, following a season that saw him lead Norwood to a Grand Final appearance. Additionally, Boyd was awarded the Sharman Medal (as voted by SANFL coaches) and secured second place in Norwood’s Best & Fairest count.
In 2024, Boyd consistently delivered dominant performances, averaging 42 hit-outs, 20 disposals, and 10 clearances per game. These remarkable statistics underline his skill and determination as a top-tier ruckman. His inclusion in St Kilda’s squad fills a vacancy created by Brad Crouch’s retirement due to a degenerative knee condition.
“We’re thrilled to officially welcome Harry to St Kilda,” said David Misson, Executive General Manager of Football. “Harry brings exceptional ruck talent and, more importantly, a hunger to succeed, having honed his craft across the VFL and SANFL in pursuit of his AFL dream.”
Boyd began training with the Saints in late 2024, demonstrating his readiness to transition to the elite level. As he joins St Kilda’s ruck division, he will work alongside developing talents Max Heath and Alex Dodson while learning from seasoned ruckman Rowan Marshall.
“We believe Harry has the potential to thrive at the highest level, and we’re excited to see him take this opportunity,” Misson added.
Boyd’s addition caps off a promising 2025 roster for St Kilda, further strengthening their depth and potential in the ruck department.
