With only two days left of trade period and most of the big names yet to find new homes let’s look at what trades are left to be done and their chances of completion.
Jesse Hogan to Fremantle
With Fremantle pulling out of the race and Melbourne not going to trade Hogan for anything less than a king’s ransom, it’s very unlike Hogan is going to move. Sink.
Tom Scully to Hawthorn
This is one of the more curious trade scenarios … ever really. GWS are looking to offload Scully to the Hawks for merely pick 53, this is apparently because of the Giants’ salary squeeze but could also be revealing how bad Scully’s broken ankle is. When the asking price is that low the only thing stopping Scully from changing clubs is the AFL giving the deal the rubber stamp. Swim.
Dylan Shiel to Essendon
Taking the Scully trade into account this is another deal that’s very likely to get done. The Giants will want a lot more for Shiel but it’s only a matter of time before they reach an agreement with Essendon. Swim.
Tim Kelly to West Coast
The Cats want a top ten pick for Kelly and the Eagles tried but failed to trade one in from another club. Come back in twelve months when Kelly is out of contract, West Coast. Sink.
Chad Wingard to Hawthorn
This is another really interesting one. Hawks have been very aggressive in pursuing Wingard, offering up Ryan Burton for the Power forward. Port sent medicos all the way to the States to test Burton so they’re clearly considering it. Burton has to agree to the trade but it looks like Wingard will be moving even if Burton doesn’t now; Chad’s relationship with Port has completely broken down. Swim.
Dayne Beams to Collingwood
Beams hasn’t officially asked for a trade, Collingwood and Brisbane still far apart on a trade deal, Beams with two years left on a heavily front-loaded contract and the Lions on the brink of finally putting together a good season. This has all the hallmarks of a deal falling through. Sink.
Rory Lobb to Fremantle
Fremantle just need to work out exactly what they’ll pay for Lobb, likely to be pick 11 with something back from the Giants. This one gets done, early tomorrow most likely. Swim.
Steven May to Melbourne
Gold Coast should be doing all they can to hang onto their last remaining captain. If the Neale deal goes through quickly though anything could happen. 50/50.
Lachie Neale
The deal that was right from the start considered a logjam in the trade period still hasn’t gone through, what are the odds. It might take right to the end of the trade period but Lachie’s leaving. Swim.
Aaron Hall to North Melbourne
This gets done early tomorrow for a fourth round pick. Swim.
