Ripper news for North Melbourne supporters. The Kangaroos’ latest sensation, Harry Sheezel, has inked a two-year contract extension, which means he’ll be stickin’ around Arden St until at least the end of 2026.
You might remember this young gun from the Sandringham Dragons, who was snagged by North Melbourne as their first pick and third pick overall in the 2022 AFL national draft. Sheezel’s already been turning heads with his class and versatility in his short time with the Roos.

This 18-year-old legend made his AFL debut last Saturday in the Kangaroos’ season opener against the West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. And crikey, did he make a splash! Coaches, teammates, and fans alike were stoked with his performance throughout the pre-season.
Sheezel absolutely smashed it with a game-high 34 disposals off half-back, earning him a spot among the Kangaroos’ best players during their nail-biting five-point win. The cherry on top? He snagged the round’s AFL Rising Star nomination.
Brady Rawlings, North Melbourne’s head of football talent, couldn’t hide his excitement about Sheezel’s decision to sign on after his stellar debut. “We are thrilled to have both a player and person of Harry’s calibre commit to the club for a further two years,” Rawlings said.
Rawlings went on to praise Sheezel’s versatility, highlighting his ability to play up forward, in the midfield, or off half-back. He reckons Sheezel’s debut was just a “small preview” of what’s to come and can’t wait to see what the young star will achieve as he racks up more games.
So, North Melbourne fans, buckle up for the Harry Sheezel show – it’s gonna be a ripper of a ride!
