North Melbourne has secured the immediate futures of three key players, with Will Phillips, Toby Pink, and Robert Hansen Jnr all re-signing with the club until the end of 2025.
Will Phillips, the Roos’ top pick from the 2020 AFL Draft, and exciting small forward Robert Hansen Jnr have both agreed to new one-year deals. Meanwhile, Toby Pink has triggered an extension for next season after a strong 2024 campaign, where he played 15 senior games.
Phillips, who has now played 43 games for North Melbourne, continues to be an integral part of the club’s midfield rotation. The 22-year-old featured in 11 AFL matches this season, often taking on key shutdown roles against some of the competition’s top midfielders.
Toby Pink, who joined North Melbourne as a delisted free agent last October after dominating in the SANFL with Glenelg, made an immediate impact this season. The 26-year-old debuted in Round 1, seven years after originally being drafted by Sydney, and showed his versatility by finishing the season with seven goals after switching from defense to a forward role.
Robert Hansen Jnr, selected in the 2023 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft, made his AFL debut in Round 20 this year. The 20-year-old small forward had a productive season in the VFL, kicking 15 goals from 14 appearances before breaking into the senior team for the final six games.
North Melbourne’s head of football talent, Brady Rawlings, expressed excitement about the trio’s potential for 2025. “Will has done some really big jobs for us this year with his typically selfless attitude,” Rawlings said. “Toby worked hard to earn a second chance in the AFL, and Robbie has shown he can bring some spark to our forward line with his speed. We know all three players will be eager to make the most of their opportunities next season.”
