Following the huge success of our Pre-Nab Challenge Fantasy Handbook, cheatafl has decided to release a second edition, focusing on the top 5 fantasy prospects for each club now that we have seen the teams play all three NAB Challenge games. In this article, we reveal our top 5 overall selections. If you are interested in seeing the full product, the 2nd edition is available for download at www.cheatafl.com. We also release our latest starting line-ups in each form of the game. The First edition is still available for download as well where we reveal our top 12 tips and hints for the 2015 fantasy season.
NUMBER 1:
Mitch Clark – He should be the first man locked into your fantasy team. He had a slow NAB Challenge 1, but then burst back into fantasy contention with 6 goals against the Crows in NAB 2. He looks like the perfect foil for Tom Hawkins, and may even steal the limelight if he keeps this up. Clark looks fit and hungry and will just get better as the season rolls on. Start him on your field! At such a bargain price, you simply can’t afford not to have him. Make sure you start him on your field, as he is too expensive to sit on your bench. Whilst he may not average 100, he will definitely build in value and should score some big scores from the get go.
NUMBER 2:
Adam Saad – Could Saad be the answer to all our prayers? We have been screaming out for a rookie priced defender to stand up and force his way into our fantasy teams, and to date we have been left wanting. However, Saad has been solid in his two NAB Challenge games and looks all but guaranteed to play round one. He is a risky pick as I cannot guarantee his job security, but if he can get a regular game he could really solve a lot of backline problems. He may just be a risk worth taking, but keep an eye on him to see if he is named round one. If so, I would back him in. I’d select him on the bench along with Joel Hamling to play in case of injury, and also build a bit of money.
NUMBER 3
Heritier Lumumba – Lumumba is player who is bucking my rule of not selecting a recently traded player as a premium. He has seemingly been given a licence by Paul Roos to roam up and down the wing and it looks as if Lumumba’s team-mates try to use him at every opportunity. He is very well priced and fills a void in defence as a lower price premium player who can average around the 80 mark. He is another one I have locked in. He has scored really well in Supercoach, but his Dream Team numbers have also been solid. Whilst I wouldn’t back him in as a player who can get guaranteed 100’s, I think he looks a solid option in defence who is not overly expensive for a premium player.
NUMBER 4
Jed Anderson – The Hawks are going to give him plenty of opportunity this year and he looks set to take his chance. Any Hawthorn player over the off-season when interviewed has nominated the stand-out performer over pre-season as Jed Anderson. The fact he is at a cheap price in the midfield makes him a lock in my side and he will start on my field as well. He should be one of the bigger bargains of 2015 provided he holds his spot. Just make sure he is named round one, and if so start him on the field but he is too expensive to be selected as a bench player. There is a sub risk though, so monitor this.
NUMBER 5
Jarryn Geary – He is the one we have all been praying for! A nice mid-priced defender who is a lock in the top 22 of his side and should score well. As the trend so far has been to save money in defence, a player like Geary allows you to not only save money, but still also get a consistent score to keep your backline solid until you are able to get some premium players into your side. Given the run of injuries at the Saints, Geary’s spot is very secure and he takes on a leadership role now given his experience. Lock him in! Also consider his team-mate Jack Newnes who looks set to dominate off half-back with his good foot-skills.
