No wonder they went hard for him, gave up a lot, and took him over his brother. Seems a great character on top of all that too.

I rated him higher than his brother. Mainly because of his competitiveness, ground level play and balance.

It’s early days but it could pay big dividends.

Will Phillips has been good (minus that kick).
Bit of an unassuming game, but has probably had 20+ disposals and 4+ tackles.
His play around the contest was really good, not just in applying pressure and getting first hands on the ball but also in knowing when to peel off to be the first receiver. Very mature.

Well I had a bit of trouble today working out who was who, but one thing I did pick up from the commentary was that Pink was everywhere. Absolutely by far his best game in the colours.

So it was 3 to Pink, 2 to Pink and 1 to Pink for the votes, plus on that performance a few honourable mentions as well.

I'll leave now.

The overlap run is the most noticeable improvement from a team perspective
Based on the preseason BF reports, I was expecting rubbish skills again.

The overlap run reduces the need for every possession to be pinpoint and I thought our skills and ball movement in the conditions was a pleasant surprise.

We seem to have good ball users across the ground now and some more players prepared to run from behind and spread in general.

Pretty stoked with today. We’re going to be able to kick winning scores this year with our offensive capabilities.

For next weeks game vs Melbourn I’m keen to get a look at how we stack up defensively against actual opposition. There are definitely still concerns over the two way running capabilities of our midfield, and I’m not sold on what seems to be the likely first choice defence heading into the season: Archer, Logue, Comben, McDonald, Tucker and Daniel. I think a fit Josh Goater makes a big difference to how the backline looks overall.

We’ve got some genuine talent on the list now and the midfield rotation is going to stack up against some of the better midfields in the league. Off broadway, i was really excited by RHJ, Whitlock and Urqhart. Hoping my bubble doesn’t burst after week!

Defence looks slow, Goater and Hardeman are the two over the next 12 months that need to take the step up.

See how it holds up against proper opposition first, though. Pretty sure the overlap looked against the Pies early last year too. And we know how that ended up going

Will there be a replay available? I saw the 1st qtr and last 5 minutes as work got hectic for a bit.

What I saw looked good. Intensity seemed low at the start and end though.

Was quietly impressed by Cooper Harvey. Seem to have developed a bit of c*** about him and looks really competitive type, which is what you need as a annoying small forward. Much prefer that than if he went out quietly & without much noise, if this really is his do or die year.
He would be an absolute handful if he had the old man's speed.
