He's already earned enough money to do whatever he wants to do. A decade on at least (and probably more) 500k a year will set up anyone with a decent financial manager. If he goes it's because money is more important than mates, one club legacy and playing in front of huge adoring crowds-not because he fears for his future family's well-being which so many say in situations like this! I'm sure they'll be just fine.
My dad knocked back an offer of much more money to take on a job in Sydney when we were kids and he asked us kids how we felt. We pleaded with him not to go and told him how much we would miss our friends (and Collingwood) and all we loved about Melbourne and dad said no. To this day I honour that beautiful man for placing our emotional connection to people and a footy club ahead of more money.
It will be interesting to see what he does as he seems to place a real value on loyalty and mateship. But you are right, sideswipe, people do have different priorities.
Six years is crazy. He goes in as hard as anyone and is unlikely to play that long. I really think a three year offer from the club is the max.a guaranteed 6 year contract at his age. I reckon we’d offer 4 max. He’s 29 this year.
Thanks for your service bruz. I most definitely won’t begrudge you for taking that.
Is that whats being offered? As long as Offers are Close yes players will stay but IF Maynard is getting a Offer of 1.5 Million Dollars a Year well Collingwood won't match that
Pretty sure his shoulders won’t have 6 more years in them.Six years is crazy. He goes in as hard as anyone and is unlikely to play that long. I really think a three year offer from the club is the max.
No chance. It’s an insane offer from an irrelevant club.Pretty sure his shoulders won’t have 6 more years in them.
I'd be happy to offer a heart & soul player like Bruzzy 4 if it made the difference.Six years is crazy. He goes in as hard as anyone and is unlikely to play that long. I really think a three year offer from the club is the max.
I actually think this works for us. Offer him three, he won’t go to North.I'd be happy to offer a heart & soul player like Bruzzy 4 if it made the difference.
If Maynard turns North down it will be a real kick in the nuts for them. Maybe then we could shake LDU loose when he realises he’s going to be playing in the bottom eight for the rest of his life.
I know. But if Maynard turns them down, LDU might just rethink his options. Who knows? We won't get anything from North for Maynard just the Compo Pick
Why not? DeGoey did and multiple players have done so with St Kilda, if pies offer 800k that’s 4.8 million, if he can’t live comfortably off that then he needs a financial advisor6 million and 6 years at North
Thanks for you're services bruzzy
Can't say no to that
Not to mention all the other perks you get for playing at the biggest club in Melbourne (Australia) (The World)Why not? DeGoey did and multiple players have done so with St Kilda, if pies offer 800k that’s 4.8 million, if he can’t live comfortably off that then he needs a financial advisor
He’s going to be shocked when he sees Arden street. Not to mention all the other perks you get for playing at the biggest club in Melbourne (Australia) (The World)![]()
I completely agree with you. I just hope someone at the club who shares these values and is trusted is portraying this message. You can- but it takes a rare individual. I'm assuming Bruz is on maybe 600-700k a year and has been making good money for ten years. He'd be set for life already. If you are all about money, then you don't hesitate. If mates, big games and big crowds as well as a legacy as a club legend and one team player matters more you say no.
I cop crap every time I say this, but money isn't everything. Once you are set up and comfortable, how much do you need? Enough is as good as a feast as the proverb says. That's my personal mantra. Others think differently. So be it.
Its not as bad as it was. I umpired a few cricket matches there in the 90s, how they manager to win 2 flags then is a miracle. It was an absolute dump. He’s going to be shocked when he sees Arden street.
It’s pretty good, and the area is cool. Nothing compared to the facilities at Collingwood though. Its not as bad as it was. I umpired a few cricket matches there in the 90s, how they manager to win 2 flags then is a miracle. It was an absolute dump.
The first round compo won me over so "luv ya bruz" see yaa guaranteed 6 year contract at his age. I reckon we’d offer 4 max. He’s 29 this year.

It won’t be top ten, more likely late teens or into the 20sThe first round compo won me over so "luv ya bruz" see ya
Or Jason Cloke.Sorry, if I can't let things go.... I wonder if Lobb would have endured the same scrutiny as Brayden if he'd hit Angus Brayshaw the same way as Cox last night.Whimsical!
It will be after our pick so if we have a good year a late teens pick. Not much but that’s FAThe first round compo won me over so "luv ya bruz" see ya
