Who do you think was trying to avoid outright results?
If it’s ever an extreme fire rated day I hope they call it off again.
Personally think CV should have its own heat rule. A country vic and metro melb that all comps go by.
If it’s so bad why do clubs want to enter the comp then?
Well CA heat policy is based on more than temperature and none of the RDCA cancelled games came close to meeting it.
But anyone who says oh Extreme fire day, don’t play cricket knows nothing about the current fire danger ratings.
All bullshit. Seems like your club missed out.
I’m too old these days, but the kids are playing in a grand final this weekend, so no.
The problem is the decision to call off the Sunday games shows the problem they’ve got with this new policy that no one supports. Half the committee quit over it being enacted and they’ll have grand finals called off on 32 degree days with no reserve days, how will that go down?
Some good points. RDCA made the bed they slept in, admitting launching place/seville etc, bushfire prone areas. However a game of cricket is not really worth it if a black saturday weather event somehow happened, and way more people are out and about than necessary
Sure, and the current heat policy has no cricket on a day like Black Saturday. The days in question the fire danger rating was 1/3 of what it was on Black Saturday.
Warrandyte Wonga Park Montrose Sth Warrandyte etc are just as fire prone.
Yet on the day in question, none were a risk and none of the grounds mentioned are in any fire danger. If anything the ground is the safest place in the community.
The danger was so low I didn’t even have to work!
