Hey Joe , sounds like you are as old as me. In reference to the blue monogram, yes you were right ,around the early 50,s fitroy went to white plastic monogram and numbers. The 60,s we were wearing pastel shades of maroon and blue with a yellow monogram. In the 70,s , a annual general meeting was held at junction oval where the red blue and yellow monogramed jumper worn by David McMahon was exhibited to members to vote on adopting these new colours for the following season.The reason was for TV exposure. The members voted against the using these new colours as they were a departure from the traditional maroon. The committee was not to impressed I can tell you.Lo and behold the next seasons first game fitzroy ran out with the rejected colours.
