What are you listening to now - No. 8 🎵🎻🎶🎼🎸

I’ve been listening to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mudcrutch and this. Love the band name and the song.

    The Swansong - Departed Musicians

RIP Denny. It seems appropriate to send you out with bagpipes.

That was an eclectic mix of songs. There’s a strong link from our past that makes you want to cry, tap your your foot, clap your hands or dance a jig when you hear Irish music. At uni we’d have union nights and one of the most memorable live gigs was by the The Bushwackers who played music...

I use to hang out with schoolmates and listen to lots of music on very basic record players, some that would only play 45s. The first Led Zeppelin song that floored me was this one. It has the longest bridge in history but it’s well worth it when Bonham and Page start bouncing off each other...

I think this album was the first or second record I purchased. The other was Imagine. I’d matured enough to give the 45s away and 33s were my weapon of choice from that time on. Of course it was Maggie May that grabbed my attention so I took the punt and bought the album. Then I listened...

It’s spooky that you posted this. On Saturday I was thinking about my favourite Rod Stewart album and I remembered that Rod was a Bob Dylan fan. And look at what he sang. A beautiful rendition on a great album. It was never as good after The Stones pinched Ronnie Wood.😢

The rhythm section😍 I’m not sure if it’s still on iview but Diesel (the guitarist not the footballer) had a 12 part series where he featured iconic live performances and chatted to people involved. One of those was Hunters and Collectors. I think it might have been a farewell performance.

    Australian Cricket Thread - No.3 🏏

I don’t think I’ve watched as much cricket as I have during this World Cup. Hopefully the one day format has had a permanent stay of execution as a result of the quality of the tournament. I was sitting back watching the preamble last night thinking we’ve got no hope but that’s no reason not...

First mistake. You should have listened to Gold FM. Radio was such a big part of my childhood years. It was the days of troglodytes and the slang for a transistor radio meant something different. The youth stations of 3XY and 3AK battled for supremacy and I’d have my transistor radio on...

    Australian Cricket Thread - No.3 🏏

I’ve had very little sleep. I watched the cricket last night and could have given it away when Australia collapsed to 7/91 chasing Afghanistan’s target of 292. I thought it would be over by 2.00am.😂 And then I saw the most extraordinary sporting achievement that I’ve witnessed in all of my...

    Senior 14. Orazio Fantasia

I still haven’t got my head around this one but you’re a Carlton player now. Go well Orazio. Cool name as well. Could easily be a character in a Fellini film.

I must admit I teared up as well when I listened to the song this morning. There’s a part in this small doco where you hear Lennon’s isolated voice and it sounds both beautiful and melancholic. So grateful to hear The Beatles again.

I’ve been listening to The Grateful Dead today. They released this album and American Beauty in 1970. A definite shift which reflected the sounds of the time.
