Internet Archive is super easy.
In this case my scanner just took all the scans and put them together in a PDF but if you do them separately there's websites where they can be stuck together.
If I ever get spare time I'll update this scan to centre pages/crop white space.
Not sure if it's out there anywhere else but I've uploaded the 1950 National Carnival program to Internet Archive. Apologies for the slightly crappy scan, but the source document is so flimsy I was terrified on every page turn.
Melbourne's Darcy Walsh (1942-1944) is usually shown as born 21/08/1918, but his War Record says 21/08/1917.
NZ BDM also says 1917 so I'm going with this on Demonwiki unless there's conflicting evidence!
Lists like this (and Reserves/U19s etc...) are really helpful for me too, because often it will give information about somebody who also appeared in some capacity at MFC.
VFL/AFL related:
Reserves/Seconds team lists (both selected sides and late changes) - irregularly published in newspapers
Thirds/Under 19s team lists - almost never published except for finals.
Reserves/Under 19s tribunal results - From the 1970s onwards the reports are usually shown via Inside...
I just saw November and 2??3. What a tool. Having said that, I've narrowed the real one's DOD down to late November 2023 at some point and just trying to confirm the exact details.
Another for the 'exclusive club' avalanche, Danny Hughes, R1 1984. Seems likely from this clip that he didn't have another kick in the first 40 seconds.
I might have missed it on here somewhere, but Robert McKenzie of Melbourne died in late 2022. I don't have an exact date, but it's reported in the December 2022 edition of the MFC Past Players Newsletter so it happened around then. Possibly related to this.
The evidence on this is a bit flimsy, but according to the MFC Past Players newsletter November 2022, Arthur Pound was going to be added to the AFL's official list of first kick/first goalscorers. I'm not taking this one as gospel without further evidence.
A later edition also claims Jeremy...
If I recall correctly he was a Brisbane fan who got involved with us because he loved the siege mentality of our rock bottom, five minutes from being shut down years.
What about DemonRevival, famously pictured waving the bag of money at $cully and last seen running a sports bar/place to meet...
Another likely goal with first kick - Melbourne's Kelvin Clarke in Round 1, 1968. Who knows how rigorous their disposal stats were, but I'll take this on face value.
Article is from the Herald but I don't have the exact date.
