They can go into deficit next year

If he nominates Hawthorn and they want him, he is certain to be in wees & poos colours
Correct. However, do we know how the deficit points work? Will they be taken off their first pick next year which is a second rounder. They may be loathed to do that, if that is the case.

It comes off their first pick.

I still believe that they traded away all their picks this year knowing that Jarman wasn't come to them. Considering that it would have been easy for them to get a pick in the 50s you would think that they would have if they knew they were getting Jarman as a father son.

I also don't think it's a coincidence that we traded in pick 43, I guess we'll know on draft day whether that is the case or not, but I suspect 43 was for insurance points wise just in case someone tries to nab him earlier.

I would not blame Jarman for not picking the Crows. The Crows are run poorly and would probably give up best 22 players so its significant other could have an extramarital affair.

Flog comment.

If they don't draft Jarman, cleary he doesn't meet a club need and isn't deemed good enough.

I bet you would bitch about them in 12 months time for drafting him and saying we only draft duds. You're full of shit wright_away

Accurate comment Sam_Malone/Alex_is_on_fire/Crows98/Hubbard

This club bends over and cops it on field and off field from the competition. Specifically Hawthorn, who we seem eager to please.

So you are saying my opinion will change? That is something opinions should be able to do when new information is available. Of course if the Crows draft him I will be annoyed if he is a dud, but no more than any other player that is a dud. As for him not picking the Crows, players of established worth rarely pick us.

Wright_away agrees

Why was your post deleted?
You keep saying Wright Away as if it is some sort of insult? So what if I made a new account? I am not ban evading, I asked for my previous account to be closed because I couldn't bothered paying to have the name changed as Wright no longer players for us. No sneaky business, no making a thread and pretending I am my own friend that is getting harrassed, no running off to support Carlton for 5 minutes. Just a straight up 'Hey Chief can you close my account' and here we are. You have your explanation now, happy? Perhaps you and try focussing on the topic (lol) from now on.

What do you think Jarman is going to do? And do you think he is worth drafting?

If he wants to play for us we should be telling him to not interview with any club or make it clear he doesn't want to leave the state. We want to get him at the cheapest possible rate, any bid after 54 and we can get him with our last pick.
I think that would be a fair selection if we use our last pick. Very speculative at that stage and really not much lost if he doesn't work out. At worst it is a feel good story.

Gary Buckenara's take from his online chat yesterday at the Hun :

QUESTION FROM SHAYNE: Hi Bucky, What's the situation now with Hawks if they want to Father/Son Ben Jarman, with hardly any picks left? What exactly is the points deficit rule? Or do they just have to hope he falls to at least 88?

Hi Shayne, Adelaide is also in the equation and will be able to utilise their picks and points required to get Jarman, depending on where other clubs see his value and may call his name out. With Hawthorn's picks, they don't carry any draft points because they're so late so they'll have to go into next year's but have already given some away. It could look likely that Jarman will end up at Adelaide.

That's right, the Hawks have basically dealt themselves out so he'd be crazy to nominate them. If we want him he's ours

Hawks are already in deficit for next year's picks, so I doubt they will go further into deficit.

O'meara better work out as they have given up many picks for him.

So we've got Hawthorn covered here if we want Ben, are we likely to take him? Given the fan backlash over the lack of activity in trade week and the club's reasoning that they wanted to take a strong hand into the draft, you'd think we'd be more likely to select him now.

Personally I hope he ends up with us. From what I've seen he's got the tools to be super damaging despite his size.

I think it seems pretty definite assuming he nominates us.
