Same rules in this thread as other years.

This thread is for news of players we are linked to, or snippets from our connected posters to drop regarding our targets.

It’s not for :
  • reviewing or posting about current HFC listed players
  • posting about who you like or who you think we should target
  • how trades might get done
The thread you are looking for to do that is here

He was in All Australian squad only last year.
Amon is the sort of player we need. Speed and a booming left foot kick. He is the sort of player that Sam is encouraging. Team him in the midfield with Macca. It is a simple choice. Go for it, particularly if he is an UNRFA.

Get us another bull and another clearance mid and we are there. Don’t forget we have to plan for life post TOM and JOM.

Year after………Caleb Serong. Unite him with his brother.

McStay as a second KPF to Lewis and a replacement for Jack eventually, the big fwds will be done.

Dropped. Crazy call.

Is it possible that all the time Amon soaked up with a shot at goal, and missing, was against team orders? Looked beyond his range and either you're putting it through the sticks, for a point or goal, or you're putting it 10 metres out.

His form hasn't been amazing. When sides are 0 from 5, a rocket needs to be put up some players to give the place a shake.

Anyway, if his value goes down...

Dropped. Crazy call.

In Ken's head he sees Amon's miss kick late as probably costing him his job. Port win and it could have been the catalyst for a season revival.

I recall Young was moved on for a similar reason

Just wondering whether Amon fits into a plan for life after TOM and JOM since he's turning 27 later this year, makes him only 18 months younger than JOM and roughly 2 years younger than Mitchell. I'm not against us picking him up as a player, just not sure it's a great plan for life post those two.

Plays a position neither of those two handle.
Would give us a quality winger on the left side of the ground (going to goals) who could assist our younger list push up the ladder, and won't stop us taking more wingers at subsequent drafts for the future.
Easy upgrade, especially with that powerful left foot that can either go down the line or hook back in to the middle of the forward 50 to a leading Lewis and cast.
All our other right side players have to awkwardly turn their bodies towards defending traffic to use their natural foot.
And Downie yet to confirm he's got a role to play in the team, much as we'd like him to.....

I really thought we should have gone Amon when we traded for Wingard, seemed like we were short changed in that trade by a fair bit.

But not sure about the timing right now. We have Day, Impey, Bramble, Morrison, MacDonald, Scrimshaw, CJ, at the moment. I wonder if we are OK for runners, and can rotate through the wings. I understand we could get a pure wing still, but that means one of those players above go to the sidelines to squeeze Amon in (and as it is we can't fit them all in even without Amon). Just not sure if it's a big need for us, and wonder whether Brisbane's Macstay would be a better target for us and get a key forward next to Lewis, especially given our key position depth is pretty thin is all areas of the ground.

I would try and target some of Brisbane, Gold Coast and GWS depth players that have been in the league for 3-5 years, former first and second round picks that won’t cost much at all. Similar to how we ended up getting Scrimshaw.

We also have the opportunity to grab both Amon and McStay as free hits and then trade away someone like Jom for a draft pick or another player we’re targeting so that Amon is replacing Jom instead of one of the youngsters etc

Do the Saints have enough cap space? You’d think that will be the last big pay day for Amon so if they don’t then 🤷🏽‍♂️
Scoops is a one-eyed Saints supporter. I would take it with a grain of salt.

Especially this far out. That would be like me saying just imagine this conversation…

ring ring ring ring…

Amon: How you going Chad long time no hear what you been up to?

Chad: Been great mate. Playing under Sammy Mitchell with the new uptempo game style has been awesome.

Amon: Yeah things have been… sorry wait a sec I have another call incoming… oh don’t worry it’s just f**king Ken. Sorry yeah where was I again? Oh yeah things suck balls over here and I really miss you and Jars.

Chad: Funny you say that mate because we have a 💩 load of cap space and if your willing to split time between wing and on ball I reckon you’d be a great addition. Don’t be surprised if Mark McKenzie contacts your manager soon.

Amon: If he hasn’t already then I’m firing his a$$ in the morning.
