He skipped a recovery session in Perth to go to adelaide early and didn’t tell anyone until prompted.
The article I read said he flew to Adelaide on a day off to see his mum instead of flying home

North players were given the Monday off leading into Round 9, but the club was unaware and unhappy Horne-Francis had travelled to Adelaide without them knowing.

That's from SEN

Squiggle suggests that the other top 8 sides aside from Geelong will have to improve a lot to compete with even the worst premiership sides this century.

Geelong actually the second strongest with some balance. Carlton, Richmond, Sydney, Brisbane and St Kilda well below Hawthorn 2013 on defence (and nowhere near as good on offence). Freo's defence looks strong but their lack of scoring power is dire (which maybe Fyfe can change).

Of course sides might surge across both axes like we did late last year, but they're coming from a lot further back. We're equal number 1 for offence, and number 1 for defence by some margin. Yet to reach our own lofty heights of 2021 while we're still in second gear. Wish they archived past squiggles so we could see our trajectory from last year.

But it would take something of a miracle for any side except Geelong or the Dockers to win the flag ahead of us IMO. It's almost impossible to improve your defence that much within one season. Offence might click during the year or you might score heavily on the day if your defence is solid, but you can't suddenly restrict a team that's as well balanced as ours (third best premiership side of all time in 2021).

Crazy how good Hawthorn were to overcome that 2008 Geelong side.

EDIT: Wait nvm they do archive past squiggles

Also not that it really matters but we'd probably be much further ahead if we hadn't taken our foot off the gas v Port, WCE and North. You can tell that we haven't really put our foot on the gas yet bc we haven't had any big jumps which have typically overinflated some sides' ratings in the past (particularly in defence, see Richmond 2018). Funny how a lack of beltings leads to teams being taken less seriously.

This is bizarre. This morning Cornes denied getting any information from the club that lead him to make the comments he did. Luff heard Lloyd say 'intel' and ran with it, blaming the club for leaking info and club didn't try to convince him otherwise?

That or so much damage had already been done prior that the relationship couldn't be repaired anyway.

Norf are a shambles. The whole Rhyce Shaw just upping and leaving was a tell tale sign this club clearly has problems. Maybe they were a bit hasty getting rid of Brad Scott? Been a shambles since really. Noble just seems like a Mark Neeld to me. Hopeless spot to be in with a horrible list. They have to.do all they can to keep JHF but the whole thing smells like Tom Scully. I have a feeling he'll be running around for Adel or Port in 2 years time. Clarko or Simpson would be great gets, but would either really want to go there knowing it's run poorly and the team is in for 4-5 more years of pain?

IIRC Rhys Shaw also cited a lack of support after he left. What even happened with him? Did he have a mental breakdown? It was always very hush hush. Then he got a job for the Suns like a month later?

It was all very very odd. I think it was part lack of support and part the guy couldn't hack it. Some blokes are meant to just be assistant coaches. Why would you even want the senior coach role anyway? Assistant coach seems like a great gig and you're out of the spotlight, no media, don't cop heat if you lose. Perfect gig

I can’t tell if North are where we were in late 2011 or 2013. You’d hope for their sake it’s 2013, and there isn’t a fall to come, because like where we were in 2011 there is a lot of young talent on that list already which you wouldn’t want to lose or see regress. They have stronger senior heads I think (at least on field), but it’s bleak

This is what I mean with North recently. Club is a shambles.

Rhyce Shaw said he was taking some time away from the game (rumours were he had OCD/related MH issues which got out of hand during 2020 and he had little support), then a few months later has a job up on the GC. Reports he had "frozen out" Brady Rawlings and Glen Archer and hasn't responded to their calls following the sacking.

At least hes hanging round, I figured he'd bail as soon as he saw signs they aren't the same team. Braver than I gave him credit for.
Obviously think that while Jeremy Cameron is there, he's still a chance. I can't see it happening. They're back in the chasing pack now. Would need some luck you'd think

interesting how the squiggle believes they are our only challenger, id love to play the Cats in a granny with Scott's pitiful finals record.

And where did Brad Scott end up, after he finished there.?

I have a conspiracy theory that McLachlan is up to his gills in all this. The whole Tasmsanian thing, it's all to close to all of this.
