He's a poor man's Pendles - which makes him a solid AFL player, with the potential to be more if he can sharpen up his movements a bit.
I'd say he's more like Crisp. Steak knives type deal and just ultra consistent. Should slowly improve over the years as he gets more experience also.

Feel our midfield has lifted the last month or so, mainly due to the output of the Eclipse and some others. Going well
Adams has gotten over covid, Lipinski is getting sharper and Pendles is spending more time in there.

I've liked his last 2 weeks and thought that was easily his best game but really don't see the comparison to Pendles.

Pendles is incredibly clean with amazing hands and is in the conversation for the greatest handpasser of all time ... Lipinski isn't even a homeless man's Pendles, let alone a poor one.

Was really happy to see more physicality from him this week, his clearance work was a lot better and seems to kick goals when he gets the chance. Hopefully he can keep that up.

after half a season of watching him, quality player, wins the ball easily, uses it well, smart player who knocks the ball to teammates advantage a lot... lacks initial burst speed which means he often has to dispose the ball as soon as he gets it

I don't think anyone should be surprised he has improved, given he has unlimited game time, confidence he isn't gonna be dropped every 2nd week; and with consistent games comes improvement and believe in yourself.

Lippa’s going very well Jen. Much better player than I thought. Fits beautifully into our team, and to date, a great pick-up.

Absolutely agreed. He fits in perfectly. One of our best valued recruits we have had in years, especially one of his age (roughy was a bargain basement, but 5 years older at the time)

I realise that and given your past comments on Lipinski I took it as such. For me it’s by a bit like a guy kicking 12 goals in a half of footy then the opposition switching defenders and he gets 3 in the second half. He literally set the AFL record for the most disposals in a half the only way from there is down.

My “knock” is my own because I have higher expectations of him than what he’s currently offering, he doesn’t look busy enough, he isn’t getting to enough contests for an endurance beast and he outwardly looks to be drifting through matches. Perhaps as frizzle pointed out it’s about role and he’s not suited to an inside one, but his career to date suggests switching things up could be a slippery slope.

FWIW his numbers aren’t bad they just aren’t good over the past month and with the way he plays he needs it 6-8 more times a game to be a good contributor or better (that takes him to roughly 25p, 8-10cp, 6cl, 5I50’s and @75%DE). Think a Duncan or Mundy type, but I can only suggest that time will help him bridge that gap. If he can that is. Also for the sake of clarity the numbers I just quoted are my expectations of a locked and loaded full time mid in the type of team we want to become.

I don't often read the player watch threads so started my read on page 37. I read this post and checked Lipinski's stats out of curiosity.

It's about 5 weeks on and he's getting pretty close to those numbers. He's averaging 25 disposals, 9.2 contested possessions, 3 clearances, 3.8 inside 50's at 71.7% disposal efficiency.

Personally i'd be pretty happy with that but wish he could average another clearance or two a game. His centre clearance numbers are real low at 0.7 but he doesn't seem to attend many centre bounces, rather starting at HF and joining the contest in general play.

He will be fitter next year - by virtue of playing constantly in seniors and the extra work he will do over summer with increased confidence and awareness.

His form since I posted that has been exceptional and exactly the standard I felt he had in him! Like you I feel he’s an uptick in clearance work from breaking into that next bracket, but I’d add that it’d be nice to see him a little more assertive in the contest as well. For a guy spending as much time in the middle as he is I sometimes feel he’s brushed off the ball on the defensive side where guys of a similar build in Pendles or Macrae would hold their ground. Splitting hairs though although it’s a layer that takes him to AA standard, IMO.
