Analysis What is going on with our home strip?

That’s why you have away strips mate. They could’ve worn that navy jumper with white shorts. Not our issue. ...up to the cats to have a clash strip.
It might not be important to u, but it is to me. We have a clash strip for away games. I don’t luv the clash strip, but I love the home strip we have worn for the 50 years I’ve been following North. When I think of all the famous north players, over the years, they are wearing our jumper with blue shorts
Anyway, I’m sure absolutely nothin will change.

Agree to disagree. I don't really see any sense in the team with the darker jumper wearing white shorts, while the team with the white jumper wears dark shorts.

For what it's worth, the last time we wore white with blue shorts at home vs. Geelong looks to be 2003 at Manuka, and it's been the standard since about 2007 in North/Geelong games for the home team to wear white/white and the away team some variation of blue/blue. That's happened in 18 of the last 24 matches between the two clubs: the exceptions were twice when we wore the blue/blue home strip (2019 and 2021), three times where Geelong wore their 'home' kit against our lighter 'Argentina' away strip (2009/2010/2011), and once in 2019 where Geelong's home kit played our 'bounding roo' with white shorts, which was probably the messiest of the set in terms of the overall game aesthetics (so, fortunately, also not a game any of us are likely to be in a hurry to rewatch, given the result...).

Despite only switching to the blue/blue kit in 2017, it looks as though the last time we saw our proper home kit as our actual home kit may be as far back as R11, 2015. As I said earlier, having so far played our three home games against WC/WB/Geel, we should effectively be able to wear it in all home games for the rest of the year, and feasibly in some more away games. If we do, then IMO that's a superior outcome to most of the last decade kit-wise.

So we are heading into round 9 and haven't worn our home colours once this year for a home game.

I agree with OP.

I love the home jumper with blue shorts and socks (not hooped) - best strip in AFL.

I am aware of the ridiculous white/dark AFL policy, but it's applied completely randomly. Swans are more white than us and wear red shorts regularly!!!

Will this finally be the week against Port?

that's not true, we wore the full home kit against Sydney.

My six year old daughter really likes that jumper.

That matters when we are struggling.

Mate I did say in a previous post that I have no issue with the clash jumper for kids, they love the logo, but can we please not play in it?

Sell it for Merch and whatever sure, but it's a comical playing strip (imo)

Our home jumper is too white.
Looking at the Geelong jumper yesterday it was a ripper. Same front as their traditional jumper and all they did was have a blue back.

Can’t see why we don’t do the same.

We needed to do this. We needed to create a version of our home jumper with a blue number panel. Geelong got in first which is a shame. If we did this, it would force the Braves to wear their white jumper and West Coast to wear their yellow jumper against us in our home games. Geelong would get to keep their usual jumper but wear white shorts in our home game. I expect we will be in white shorts in our next Melbourne home game vs GoDees.

Absolutely disgraceful that we keep wearing away/white kit. No way our royal blue shorts clash with the Power regardless what they wore.

So we still have not played in our awesome home jumper, blue shorts and socks strip for a home game yet this year. NOT ONCE.

And don't give me the "more white in jumper means white shorts policy", as apparently that utter bullshit only applies to us.

Collingwood played in black shorts and socks last night against the Dogs (and Swans wear red shorts for home games and they are the whitest of all) and clearly the Pies have far more white than the Dogs in their jumper!!!

It sucks as our think our home jumper with blue shorts and socks is magical.

Definitely should've had blue shorts today, with Port still in the black. We were able to wear a fully blue-based kit against black-based teams without issue, so it shouldn't be an issue now. Disappointing, and hopefully the club is dissatisfied also and lobbying for better. (Wouldn't place any bets on that, based on the seeming internal complacency with our on-field decay, but I digress...)

Really mate ?
With the way most of us are feeling right now with our deplorable team . I think starting a “ what’s up with our home strip “ thread rates on the very high threads answers from me of ……

It’s actually f’ed that we are 9 rounds in and have only been allowed to wear our home blue shorts strip once (and in an away game vs swans ffs)

It's a disgrace. See the Pies last night against the Bulldogs?

We wore away strip against the same team on our huge Good Friday game, and Pies yet wore full home last night.

Not acceptable

Yeah it should be pretty simple

Home games we get blue
Away game white unless it makes more sense to also be blue

Either way it should at least 50% blue unlike the first 9 rounds so far

That's because Collingwood had a black based home jumper. We had a blue based home jumper until this year. Everyone wanted to revert to the traditional white based jumper and so this is the natural outcome. You either wear a white based jumper and white shorts most of the time or a dark based jumper and dark shorts.

I’m with hcd199 ...... Our home strip is important.

I understand the "policy" you are getting at TMH. What is so frustrating is that it simply isn't applied consistently for all teams.

Please tell me how then did Swans wear red shorts last night against the Bombers, despite also having a predominantly white jumper (like ours) against a totally black/red jumper that the Bombers wear then?

According to the policy you refer to the Swans should have been forced to wear white shorts like we did against the dark suited Power, yet sure enough they didn't have to!!!! (i'm not blaming you at all mate)

Least of our worries given the repeated insipid on-field displays, but if we can't wear blue shorts with our white-based guernsey in a home game against a team with literally the inverse of both those colours, can it even be called our home strip?

As I said upthread, I may be in a minority on this but I'm happy to wear white shorts home for select match-ups if it's the best way to keep both teams in their regular jumpers, but there's zero reason for us not to be wearing our best kit today.
