Same rules in this thread as other years.

This thread is for news of players we are linked to, or snippets from our connected posters to drop regarding our targets.

It’s not for :
  • reviewing or posting about current HFC listed players
  • posting about who you like or who you think we should target
  • how trades might get done
The thread you are looking for to do that is here

We wont part with the capital required IMO.
I wouldn't want us to part with it tbf.

For all the hype, Rankine hasn't shown enough to warrant giving over the type of draft capital Gold Coast would want.

from the HUN:
The free agency market is hotting up early with Power wingman Karl Amon now almost certainly Hawthorn-bound on a four or five-year deal worth $650,000 per season.
Port Adelaide have made clear they cannot hope to match that offer, which will see Amon take up his free agency rights with the Hawks on a deal that could secure the Power end-of-first-round compensation.
St Kilda was also an early contender but the Power believe Amon, a member of the All Australian 40 last year, will play under Sam Mitchell next year.

((Mitch Lewis hardens))

I understand that we have spent the better part of the last 12 months in Rankine's ear. Not sure it means much but we're as strong as chance as Adelaide if he decides to move on from the Suns.

Sorry, there's a lot of laughs at this post. Are they calling it rubbish or am i missing something? You got good info?

None the wiser on the Rankine matter.

I didn’t respond to Holy Rioli post but I would assume most just cannot fathom us giving up what the Suns would want for him. Rankine is the kind of player your go after once you midfield is complete so you can get the ball to him repeatedly otherwise he becomes ineffective. I have no doubt we’ve talked to his management but you’d think it would just be doing our due diligence just in case we look to acquire him further down the line.

Cart before the horse me thinks.

Interesting. At least he's got a mate already at Hawthorn.

Despite other comments on here, Rankine would be a huge get. But again, it would involve a massive trade which I am not sure we are up to yet (in the current cycle).

Read the pinned post. Please don't make posts about how many picks it would take to get in player 'x' to the club.
Hey what gives you're supposed to be the cool parent...

I mean mod

I imagine when we first enquired we never thought his trade value would escalate so quickly. Even in the last 3 months its shot up a lot. Would have been a much cheaper player in May to acquire via trade.

Has anyone heard anything about us pursuing Grundy or is this just a fluff piece where they are connecting dots because a) Big Boy is retiring b) we have a s**t load of cap space c) Justin Reeves didn't deny / admit any interest? The silly season has begun 😂

The silly season never ends we are living in one constant silly construct where even the simplest thing like following a competitive sport has become silly.

Given our salary cap space any club looking to salary dump players out will get linked to us ......first of many to come I think

So what are the next steps? How soon can we expect Karl to name the club?
The AFL exchange period will commence on Friday September 30 — six days after the AFL Grand Final — when the free agency window opens. The trade period will then kick off on Monday October 3, with players and picks up for grabs.

The free agency period will last one week, with no offers to be lodged past 5pm on Friday October 7. However clubs with offers pending have until Monday October 10 to match bids.

Are players allowed to nominate a club prior to these dates?
