So, we are going to have a captain, who doesn't speak, doesn't do media, is undisciplined at times on the field, and basically needs to concentrate on getting his own game back up and going again after an indifferent year?
May I ask?
What colour is the sky in your world?
Sadly, media and speaking are a big part of selling your club and getting the message out there.

Media and speaking can be removed from the captain. Someone else can do that, another player more suited

reckon we should do dusty and balta co captains

you won me over.

Dusty and Balta as captains and another player to address the media and other talking points.

Grimes and Nank can do the media and other bits
dusty and balta co captains and balta speaks to the media

reckon he'll do good

Co Captains sucks

It should be single, and it has to be either Grimes or Nank based on last years process anyway, neither have fallen away that far to say both are no good.

Ideally we shouldve gone for Big Sexy last year, already had captaincy experince, happy to talk to media.

So all that considered, Grimes Capt, Nank & Big Sexy VC... also replicates our premiership model with one leader in each area of the ground

Vlastuin for mine. Was captain through his juniors. I remember when we drafted him they said he's a Voss clone. Unfortunately our midfield was pretty stacked so he never really got to become the mid he was meant to be. He never sooked or threatened to leave for more midfield minutes. He put his head down, sacrificed his game for the teams benefit ( similar story to Luke Hodge) I remember years ago might've been a preseason game or early in year we played him in the guts he destroyed it but we missed him too much in defence so he went back and shored it up. Another game we couldn't kick any goals so they swung him forward and bang 3 goals. He's rarely beaten, durable, how inspirational were a few of his last quarter efforts against the Bears? I would've picked him last year. Grimes is getting old and injured, Nank probably needs to be upgraded. I'd consider Lynch but his injuries are a concern.
Has openly said he doesn't want it.

Everyone says co-captains suck, but I haven't really read anything on here explaining why, in terms of a supporters perspective.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter to me, unless there is a clear difference of opinion or approach from the co-captains and they don't work harmoniously together.

With Nank and Grimes I felt zero lack of leadership or direction throughout the season. It felt like a seamless transition from one of our best ever captains in Cotchin.

People don't like co-captains, mainly just because there's two captains and it's a break away from the norm and people generally hate change.
Nank and Grimes deserve to go around again. If I had a personal choice, I'd have either Lynch or Martin be our captain. Equally happy to see Nank and Grimes go around again.

Dan Rioli, great year, rebuilt his career with his change to half back.
24 years old and just signed on for a further 5 years.
Sets an example with his dash and attacking style which often involve team mates
A great chance to see further personal development in Dan himself as he learns to deal more confidently with the media which, to me,
further strengthens and solidifys our position as both the most socialistic and progressive club in the AFL.

Lets watch and support Dan and all the new talented players on the next ride.

Lead the kids to the top Dan! ................."Eat em Alive Tigers"

And took a speccie over Buddy

I don't think we have a obvious choice.

Do we want a obvious choice?

The players will have their ideas.

I have an idea of making Balta captain but it is a captain with asterix in the sense we we be relying on a lot of other leadership. I just thing Balta is the new generation, our backline is critical going forward and Balta is key and him slapping the ground after knocking it to Daniher shows he cares and he has his own growth and development to lead the group forward. I would make Grimes a vice captain as defensive support and guidance along with Cumberland representing the forwards, resilience and development and our development and throw in Pickett as the everywhere man covering other bases with a bit of experience
Balta — couldn’t be a worse choice
Guy has no footy IQ

I think Dusty is on his own journey, still part of the team and valuable key to our progress but I am not sure he needs or wants the captaincy. Just my opinion
I reckon he flirted with the idea a bit in 2021.
What some others were saying about him.
How he seemed to do a bit more media.
But then that injury, followed by his old man, if he had been still tossing it up, put an end to it.
