New logo is not easy and that's why they cost so much - it's a complete rebranding and includes factors that are totally reasonable and some that are more dictatorial for image - so the more 'ferocious' depictions do not fit the family friendly image that the AFL wants to project,
I've taken this onboard, and I've also paid homage to the past, with a new, family-friendly, non-threatening logo...

Wouldn’t say all the time - present logo is the longest lasting one we’ve had.
Check it out again. I didn't say "Why are we changing the logo all the time."

Yes but this is a 4 page thread that has spanned 2 years and has hardly been a constant topic over the decade or so I’ve been posting here - so even with the semantics sorted I disagree that people are constantly demanding a logo change.

Wanting it once is too much. The vegemite logo, the Arnotts logo, they are icons because they are constants. Should never have changed it once we settled on "Hawks" as a mascot.

That's true - large iconic brands absolutely never change their logos. Never ever happened in commercial history. I mean I can see why a maximum of 5 incarnations of our logo over the span of 70-80 years is just changing it 'all the time'. To hell with this instability - I demand a return to the Mayblooms name - there's nothing kids love more than a small flowering shrub! Just think of the marketability of that.

Large corps change their logos often, and still stay relevant, iconic, etc.

The brand is not just the logo

This simply isn't true - just look at the iconic, well known first up logos for Apple, IBM and McDonalds - you can't tell me they haven't stood the test of time!

Sarcasm aside - I think the original IBM one is pretty fun.

New logo is not easy and that's why they cost so much - it's a complete rebranding and includes factors that are totally reasonable and some that are more dictatorial for image - so the more 'ferocious' depictions do not fit the family friendly image that the AFL wants to project, all the clubs logos should be proportionate to each other (sensible), promoting a stylised, corporate image, et al.

Then you have to think about color continuity across web, digital and traditional litho platforms so that you have consistency of color across all, and then a logo must also be strong enough so that it can be printed in greyscale and still project the same strength of message - gradients are not an option.

The other thing needing consideration is how will the new logo work in with our guernsey? Particularly our plethora of clash jumpers we produce each season because the logo will be our only link with the club and the jumper.

I had no time for the current logo when introduced but it has served us well - you'll be surprised how much you will like it down the track when you identify it with our golden years from 2007 - 2016.

This is the sort of thing I envisage we will be looking at going forward - it's basic and needs a bit of layering up but be careful of what you wish for is all I will say.

If the one on the right were a bit fiercer looking I think it would be great.

Big fan of the 1970s logo we have on the away strip. Would be keen on a light modernisation of this with the outstretched wings.

Needs to face the left. 10/13 Hawks flags won with a left-facing Hawk.
