They do these for the women as well.

And I'm sure Papa G and co would tell you that I'm a woke leftie prone to outrage over stuff like this, so if even I'm not outraged by this there's probably not much to be outraged about.

Personally I think the way that tweet is presented is simply an objectification which is rife in social media and I think it was deliberate.

Might be technically correct and the orthodox and ultra orthodox Jews stick to this line, but many Jewish organisations around the world have changed their "laws" and recognise kids of non Jewish mothers as Jews, if the kids have studied Jewish teachings.

My mate had a non Jewish mother and Jewish father. I met him at uni and he didn't really practice his faith, was pretty agnostic. But went and studied in USA in his mid 20's and started studying the Hebrew bible and teachings as he became mates with a couple Jews in his masters course, then moved back to Oz to Melbourne, where nearly all his father's family are based, continued his studies, attended the synagogue and was embraced by the Jewish community there. A decade later he moved to Sydney and again was embraced by the Jews in Sydney despite his mother not being Jewish.

Remember Diamond Joe Gutnick when he was Melbourne President couldn't attend games on Friday night or Saturday because of the Shabbat? Maybe that's why there haven't been any Jewish AFL players for a long time.

So when a player registers in the VFL/AFL declaring their religion is compulsory?

That's the only way the VFL/AFL can make these type of claims.

Thought the same thing. I guess there are Orthodox Jews and the Unorthodox type. Diamond Joe Gutnick was probably one of the Orthodox faith.
