Not every player lives bayside though. Quite a few players live inner-city.
Don’t forget the “dingley international”Next door to Capital. Am sure the Chairman of Crown could do a deal to get the boys a round or two.
The Mornington Peninsula Fwy has really changed the travel equation for people who want to live down the peninsula and work in the Eastern suburbs.View attachment 1561757
If players are coming from Richmond hawthorn etc it will add 15 minutes. Maximum. Get off Blackburn rd from M1 then westall rd. What it does do is give players a little flexibility. If they like the country life with all the new roads built will take no longer than 1 hour from Dromana.
Nice, already looking like an elite facility.Called past Dingley a couple of days ago there is massive earth works going on with the land being filled up with hundreds of trucks coming and going.
So it's good to see work is progressing at the Kennedy centre
They can take a reverse mortgage to fund their retirement and then they bank gets their money back when they die and the house is sold. Shouldn't be getting a pension when you are living in a 2 million dollar home, downsize or borrow against it.Economists love to draw a distinction between wealth and income.
Quick and simple example is old age pensioners who live in houses now worth squillons... have wealth but no income to pay rates...
I live in springvale south which borders dingley. And I don't understand how anyone can think mulgrave is any real difference to dingley other than the less traffic in dingley.Listening to Vanders this afternoon he stated the players are really excited about how good the Kennedy centre is going to be and have already started moving to bayside suburbs.
Lewis mentioned last week at the announcement that he lives 10 minutes away and that others are in Highett, Bentleigh and surrounds, so I’m laughing at opposition fans and media suggesting this is anything close to “when Saints moved to Seaford”.
For the record from Westfield Southland to Dingley is an 8 minute drive.
Good thing dingley is walking distance from Moorabbin airport. As someone who hates driving 3 suburbs over in Melbourne's infinitely tedious traffic - I would actually rather long-haul fly somewhere than drive to Dingley. In terms of players already living in these parts - you are dead on. Players already making the commute to Mulgrave won't care about the commute to Dingley.
Get married at the Kennedy community Centre and we'll throw in Dipper to officiate the wedding and MC. DJ Stratton optional extra.I grew up in Vermont south, and now live in Moorabbin. Took getting used to (3-6 months) but love this south side of Melbourne and dingley closer to Brighton, Elwood, Stkilda, Windsor than Waverley and from Richmond etc difference is negligible.
I’m very bullish about this development and will be great for the club. From what I’ve heard there will be function room for hire for weddings etc. there will be good income steams.
The main focus is an elite training facility for the players, I remember Clarko rabbiting on after trips to the US and UK raving about the quality of facilities and the privacy/ secrecy for trying new plays. Spanking new digs will be a boon to the group and as you mentioned we own it ! And can make it our own.An important component of the Dingley site is that the Club owns the land. Glenferrie Oval, as much as it was our beloved home for decades, was always Council property. Even if it had the room to expand, (which it doesn’t) I don’t think Boroondara Council would ever welcome us back. Anyway, our supporters often live further out in the Southeastern ‘burbs, these days. To have the room to provide for training, Club functions, Past Players’ needs and supporter requirements all in one place could help bring the Club together again. It would be nice to have the feeling of a place like Glenferrie again, where everyone can come and be welcome. Waverley was far from perfect. Dingley is a clean slate and it’s ours. The Club can make it a great fit for all the segments of Hawthorn.
There will be basketball courts and other public facilities there. Are you sure we can close it off? Looks very open in the renders. The main focus is an elite training facility for the players, I remember Clarko rabbiting on after trips to the US and UK raving about the quality of facilities and the privacy/ secrecy for trying new plays. would the aflw oval be able to closed off aswell…?!?I read that there will be an indoor mini field for secret sauce drills
Part of it is a designated community space, which will be where the front oval will be used for AFLW and the like - the bit that is paid by government funding (this is HOW we got the government funding). The oval where training will be located will be closed off to the public whenever the club chooses, I have no doubt at all. It's a designated community space I am fairly sure - hence potential LGA funding. Doubt it will be closed off at all.
Excuse the intrusionAlso was designed so poorly isn’t it basically just a massive shed
Yep.Are there plans for it to be a carbon neutrality area?
Why do these mock ups always neglect the fence around the ground.Excuse the intrusion
It’s soulless and in the middle of nowhere however it is state of the art and very impressive inside. I’ve been there on several occasions (coterie member), a tour through the joint is quite impressive. It’s not just a shed. It has theatres, conference rooms, museum and all the other necessities like 25M lane pool, oxygen chamber etc.
Despite its current shortcomings noted above, there is the planned ‘stage 3’ incorporating additions to make it match-day ready and spectator friendly as well as working on the look and feel as you enter the gates and approach it. It has plans to utilise space behind the facility to build a community medical centre incorporating medical scanning, Physio therapy and stuff like that to generate revenue outside football.
The other big project they’re working on is a $50M master plan for Windy Hill. This is cross functional with the Club, council and government. This is expected to turn Windy Hill into the home ground for the AFLW / VFL teams (new change rooms, media facilities), new recreational facilities for the community, updated restaurants and social club, new merchandise outlet and possibly move Hall if Fane back there too. Also landscaping the perimeter areas to cater for spectators. Think Vic Park. I think they intend to demolish the Cookson stand (on the wing) and retain the other two stands. This is their number 1 priority and the next major project from an investment perspective. They’re shortly expected to announce funding and final plans.View attachment 1566216View attachment 1566217View attachment 1566218View attachment 1566219
I thought that about the dingley mock-ups lolWhy do these mock ups always neglect the fence around the ground.
Very very few grounds have no fence around them.
