That wouldn't help the club in anyway

100% disagree ..would fill the gap while we wait for him to recover and cost us nothing

He’s still good enough and not like we have anyone else good enough to come in and take the number one defender every week ..

I don’t see how it doesn’t help us .. if we had a good developing young full forward waiting for an opportunity to step up I probably wouldn’t feel it necessary

Sharman isn’t a realistic suggestion in that role nor is battle or membrey

Sharman - Battle and Membrey are all a more realistic suggestion then Kennedy

With 2 lists spots free, you'd think we would at least look at who is available out there. Kennedy would be a long shot but maybe there is someone else who we could try.

It actually isn’t too bad of a timeline.

“By the time he rehabs and has his full recovery, back to full training, it’s a 16 to 20-week process really, which is unfortunate.

At least we get to see him play next year, I guess maybe sometime after round 6 or so. It would be really sad not to see him for a whole season because he's just so exciting to watch.

If we can see it as an opportunity, perhaps we can use it to our advantage. There's no doubt we've been too Max-centric.

20 weeks from today is ANZAC Day.

Massive pity about Max. But what is happening at the Saints isn’t about the first half of next year. It is about the long term. Building a sustainable future. Resilience is a part of it.

You have to keep going forward. Learning to live without Max is a necessity. Wish it wasn’t so, but we have to be flexible and able to adapt. We’ll be better for it in the longer term. It’s the only way we can look at it.

Reminds me of the times we lost Plugger. Always at a bad time. Seem to remember O’Brien filling the gap well. Buckets too. And after he left Heatley. Hopefully someone comes out and fills in well.

Sharman, Hayes, Battle….whoever. Keeler might get a game just parked in the forward pocket. Now that would be interesting.
Sharman did it in his first year and will do it again - expect big things from this bloke - could well be the opportunity he needed with King out.

Walsh said 16-20 weeks is full fit and training.

No way I’m putting max in the magoos after his last time there

None of those are a viable option to perform the role of full forward at the level we require

Kennedy could still perform at that level comfortably
Kennedy is never going to happen so its not a realistic suggestion

What odds do you want that Sharman - Battle or Membrey all play FF before Kennedy

Yeah i wish him all the best with his health too but if he is going to be serious about being an AFL get yourself fit or go play in the bush , For a bloke who admits he isn't fit yet does nothing about it WTF
Don't think he thinks he's unfit. I heard him back on trade radio saying that his running data is competitive with the majority of afl midfielders currently in the game

I can't see Kennedy being willing to uproot his family from WA and head over to play for a few months for St Kilda on something like base salary.

He's also just retired so he's probably been hitting the beers and burgers over the off season rather than training so I doubt he would be in great shape.

On top of all that it wouldn't do us any good long term having him step in to play full forward for us for a few months and then piss off back to WA,

Plus it would just be annoying watching Kennedy slot them form everywhere then Max comes back and does the opposite.

You’ve taken the term realistic in the incorrect context

Realistic to be able to perform the role of a full forward . Why would I suggest Sharman isn’t realistic going by your logic .. that could obviously happen at any moment . Is he a realistic option to perform the role of full forward that we require .. no he’s not

You said perusing Kennedy doesn’t help the club in any way . I disagree

Well I guess one positive would be that he might be able to give Max some goal kicking tips, he was one of the best set shots for goal in the AFL.

He was like a bigger taller version of Jason Heatley.

I wouldn’t be robbing Peter to pay Paul by moving Battle or Marshall forward. Reminds me of when Roo did his hammy and we tried playing Fisher forward. Not only was he an ordinary forward, the backline suffered as well turning one problem into two.

Membrey and Sharman with Wood rolling through should be enough, hopefully we get it in there quicker to spread the load.

But again very disappointing snd I worry about his overhead strength now and going forward. Plus please don’t let him be forever injury prone .
Just easier to not worry about that right now, can stress more about that when he's fit because it may be a slight worry.

Sharman Membrey Battle
Butler Gresham Higgins

Enough goals there to win us games.

Cordy Howard Wilkie Coffield Paton Sinclair
No question he’s a huge out, however… it certainly will make us less Winx focussed.
And therefore hopefully a little harder and less predictable to play against.

Kennedy?! Christ you lot are cooked…

HF: Butler - Membrey - Billings
F: Higgins - Sharman - Gresham

Something like this still has a huge amount of marking ability, and provides more fluidity and random danger than perhaps a Max-centric forwardline does.

Either way, it’ll force us to be less obvious and perhaps a bit more creative than we were under Ratts, and maybe that’s not such a bad thing.

Maybe Campbell plays. Maybe Ross goes for broke and Owens plays as a marking target, or The Poo, or Moose, or Keeler!

You adapt, or you die.
