Even though the overall visual affect sometimes reminds me of the time I sautéed some dubious mushrooms, it is a splendid resource.

The effort by and achievement of rustycrate is of the highest order.

I think I'm finished innovating.

The Plan

On Thursdays
(or whenever)
I will publish the list after the teams are announced.
Add the blurb
Show the last 5 games
Show milestones

On Tuesdays I will
Update scores
Update coaches votes
Update stats (players games, Coaches games)
Update injury/absence for whatever reason and number of weeks
Update the top 8
Update the Deathriders club with Hawthorn's pathetic position
Update our subsequent draft picks

Occasionally
Reflect the changed players positions if they are indeed playing a majority in a different position
Add dual player position capability if it is reflected onfield
Add to LTI if needed
Show Cat B upgrades

That is the plan

I have shown an example below

See Rampe has married and gone on a honeymoon for a week
Melican retired
Roberts kicked a winning goal and was king hit and suffered concussion. Is out for 4 weeks.
Cunningham took out the most punchable face against GWS and was suspened for 3 weeks.

Not all heroes wear Rustycrates.

Amazing work - love your proactiveness.

Cunners should have gotten off with a fine.

I thought I might also track the goalscoring this year too!!

A few things.
  • Buddy if he kicks 52 goals like last year, will finish on 1099. He needs to go one better and be the only player ever to finished in the 1100s.
  • Would be interesting to see who is tracking better than last year.
  • Will be interesting to see the goal scoring round by round and any trends.

It will be sorted on this years goals first, so the highest goal scorers will be at the top, with the exception of Buddy who will remain near to the all time greats for comparison.

It's true that Champion Data comes from stats alone but they use quite sophisticated stats - they value disposals differently according to whether they are effective or not, whether they are part of a scoring chain or not, where in the ground they happen etc. etc. So, for example a successful kick inside 50 is valued much more than a sideways chip to a teammate, let alone an up and under that gets marked by the oppo.
Ok so they value according to whether the disposal is effective. But what do they consider effective? On another site, not using Champion Data stats, the effective disposals are those that get to a player in the same guernsey and not just long bombs which Champion Data seems to think are effective.

They do not count a tap out of a pack or pushed ball as a stat. They do not count a pressure act not resulting in a tackle, closing on a player and pressuring him or boxing him in so he makes a mistake, as a stat. Some stats they have are overrated. Inside 50 for instance. The number of times inside 50 might not actually be indicative of the state of the game. In one game last year we lost the inside 50 count easily but spent far more time inside 50 than our opponents. In fact we had the ball inside 50 in one quarter for 20 minutes of the quarter yet were down by 2 inside 50.

Stats only tell part of the story. Vision of the game tells far more as you able to see what transpires in REAL action not some mathematician's calculations.

Its cool but the draft picks bit really seems out of place.

Not relevant till post-season anyway and its just the ladder, where hawthorn will hopefully and likely be mired in the bottom 4, or bottom 6 at least while we will hopefully be top four, at least top six.

Looks good rustycrate :thumbsu:

Just one observation.
It looks as if the blue for forwards is the same colour as that for suspended?
The red for injured works well, I wonder if purple for suspended instead?
The blue suspended actually works well it is slightly darker. I will play around with it. Thanks for the feedback.

I just road tested it. Purple it is. I had to go a lighter purple because of the black text. looks good. Thanks.

I got 9 out of 44 (including Cunningham but not Stephens). 9/44 = 20%

I'd re-check my count but that's not just 1 different.
11 out of 44 =25%
Rampey
Blakey
Mills
Gulden
Heeney
Cunningham
Campbell
McAndrew
Wicks
Edwards
Sheather

I had us with 42 players from some reason not 44.
