St Kilda, the only undefeated team on top of the ladder, and the Magpies, the second favourite to win the premiership with most betting agencies, will face off in the Sunday twilight timeslot at the Adelaide Oval. Now there are suggestions the league has made a huge mistake with the fixture with some commentators suggesting the match should have been prime time at the home of football.

The match is expected to draw a crowd of up to 50,000 at the Adelaide Oval, but plenty believe the clash would have attracted a crowd of more than 80,000 at the MCG. To make matters worse for the AFL, Essendon’s clash with the Demons is also suddenly a major event match with both teams sitting inside the top 4 after four rounds.

With the Bombers and Demons up and about plenty believe the Saturday night fixture at the Adelaide Oval was a wasted opportunity for the game to have got a crowd of more than 70,000 at the MCG. Several footy commentators in recent days have suggested the AFL should have made a snap decision to bring the fixtures back to Melbourne, to be played in front of a combined crowd of around 150,000 fans. Collingwood president Jeff Browne said last week he was “disappointed” for Magpies fans about the scheduling of the game, but also said he supports the Gather Round concept.

Maybe they will feel better if they take a square of MCG turf over with them business class.

Chris Scott will leave the Cattery before Kenny™ slings his dismal hook.

Scats look disinterested they'd rather be necking beers & waxing lyrical over the flag.

Paddy would rather be out fishing.

Different circumstances and timeframes obviously, but it reeks of Port in 2005, where everyone put the cue in the rack except Warren and the kids.
