What a genius Sanderson is. Play with more composure and take the game on more. Well which one do you want Carlton to do? Play with more calmness and control or with more chaos and go quick. No wonder he is a failed coach. May as well just say we just need to play better

Blah blah blah we all know this ..

But agree with that coaching dude that we need to get Durds or Motlop in at centre bounces to sharpen things up a bit, especially Durdin who has told me a few times he was a mid in juniors and sees himself as being a mid long term. Mix things up!!

Started to read then got to line about "7 reporter Tom Browne".... Instantly stopped reading...

This…

The problem is many on here feed their delicate egos from the general, week-to-week perception of the club.

They care very much about what comes from the deep dark depths of that bin (Tom Browns rubbish & other such malarkey).

PS Tom doesn’t waste time lining his bin! It’s stinks from over use.

There’s as much emotional danger exulting in faint praise, as there is wallowing in the depths of the media’s trolling of us.

Looks like we are being punted from prime time. Not that surprising and we probably deserve it.

Though I would argue our games still draw more eyes then others even if we aren't playing super so long as we are competing for the 8.
The fact that our games still draw eyes is a reason we aren't getting prime time as we aren't playing awesomely so the draw for a non prime time spot will still be reasonable and the game moved into the prime time will give them a combined higher audience than the other way round. Just a game of how many neutrals will tune in. Not how many loyals.

Composure in speed is a thing.

I think most here feel the frustration of our team being poor for so long.

I don’t think it’s people like Browne that’s the problem. It’s what we see on field, MC and what we hear from the club that causes most frustrations. 8 years since start of rebuild and still no resemblance of a good game plan/style.

Media feed on our frustration and join in echoing frustrations of fans to get clicks.

If Carlton supporters are ego driven - they will suffer every bump.

They will feed from the media’s crap each week, good or bad.

If you look at the team unemotionally, we’ve got a good (not perfect) list that needs to learn how to balance attack & defence better.

I think we are a year off being a dependable week-in-week-out performing team.

Egos are destructive - generally emotional, bypassing rationality:).

The disconnect between club & supporters is the club is trying to act rationally as an organisation - we react emotionally.

We need to meet in the middle IMHO.

I actually enjoyed this article from Andrew Wu. Thought that it was fairly well balanced.

Compared to the rubbish in the herald sun it was almost pullitzer prize winning.

He does a regular stint on SEN each week, giving his analyses on each of the upcoming games that week, as well as each of the teams playing. It's well worth a listen - talks about the game styles and strategies of the teams going head to head, and the reasons why one should defeat the other.

It's not the Dermott Brereton waffle that leaves you totally confused at wtf he's banging on about, it's well thought out constructive analysis.

To be honest, I would mind seeing him as an assistant at Carlton behind Vossy. Even McRae came out and said during the week on SEN how crucial Leppa's appointment has been in Collingwood's improvement, and without his strategic input they wouldn't be where they are right now.

unlistenable

Blues’ goal concerns
Carlton’s propensity for around-the-corner shots for goal – Harry McKay (again), Jesse Motlop (fair enough where he was) and Patrick Cripps (probably wouldn’t do it if he had his time again) – felt like a team uncertain of itself. Maybe that is reading too much into those kicks, but across the field there was a feeling of uncertainty and fear of failure about Carlton’s play. Carlton’s shot-at-goal accuracy was the third worst for the round. It was a carry-on from the way they had played recent weeks. Michael Voss, like his club, was feeling the heat. Bruce Mathieson had had his annual man-yelling- at-clouds moment this week, railing against everyone at the Blues as responsible for the team not being better.

The glass half-full view of the Blues’ loss was the second half might have marked the change. Voss made a move – pulled his tall forwards up the ground and made his smalls the target. It unsettled the Dogs, who, to be fair, rallied and responded like a team of serious quality. They looked a better team after half-time but conversion once inside 50 remains a concern – they scored a goal just 16 per cent of the time they went inside 50, which was the second worst of any side for the round.

A wise mind balances rationality with emotion though. Humans are social animals so to be expect people to be without ego is a nice ideal but not exactly achievable. Narcissism is a spectrum and it's quite healthy to have a decent sized ego. Just needs to be regulated appropriately like most things in life.

Try not to fall into black and white thinking with this sort of thing because misinformation causes a lot of people needless stress about these sort of things.

The two most intelligent posts I have seen on a Carlton forum in many years.

It’s not about having ego (or not)- but having an awareness of it that’s important.

You’ll note my post said “we need to meet in the middle”. Not so black & white really…

More rational decisions can be made without viewing an event through the lens of ego driven emotion.

I think the bleating on here whether we win, lose or draw comes from supporters who attach their ego to the club & its weekly ups/downs.

It causes them ( and the rest ) much more pain than one little post :).
