Jack Martin has been unbelievable, getting better each game & showing real leadership.
So classy & is a force to to reckoned with, doing everything and more of what you could ask of him

I double down on what I said recently.. it’s hard for a team to take away our main strength of contested ball for four quarters. When we are rugged and tough at the stoppages we grind teams down and eventually get a patch where we take full control. Usually that’s enough to slam on quick goals in a burst, but kudos to the Saints today as they made it pretty dour.

The key for us is to continue to take the game on from stoppages and half back even if we make a few mistakes like we did in that first half. You can see the confidence and self-belief growing with this playing group. They know they can get it done with a third of the best 22 out.

Probably one of the gutsiest wins I've seen in 20 years. So many players out, season on the line, top 8 team. Just terrific.

New game plan just how footy is now, go into the middle, move it quick and direct. Take Collingwood's game plan, have Collingwood like comebacks. How does it work? If you move the ball fast and direct, teams have to work super hard to defend. By the end of the game teams are exhausted and you can run over the top of them. Play the old way, up the boundary, slow, it's easy running when defending means you finish the game running.

Credit to us we never gave up, we kept attacking, kept making them defend for their lives and it allowed us to come home strong.

Ross outcoached by Voss. Went the flood, big number back on Curnow and for half a game it worked but not for a whole game. Push extra numbers back, that's more running to do on the offence. In the end they ran out of gas and couldn't get numbers forward and we took a lot of easy intercept marks. An onld fashion out dated gameplan beaten by the new style. As I said before, negative footy is dead. Teams will grind you down and run over you.

Our outs did show, but we won anyway.

Finals is now very very close.

Newman - BOG. Cracking game. Just tough, skilled, reads it so well, he kept us in it.

Fisher - Put his hand up for more games, well done. Did have moments where he dropped a ball because he would have had to take a tackle but overall he was very good. A pure outside role which is him all over. His kicking and run off half back was sublime. He was more Adam Saad than Adam Saad was today.

Acres - How good is Acres! One criticism, learn to body spoil. Make sure you hit the body when spoiling. But 27 and 2. What great game on the wing.

Docherty - Jekyll and Hyde. First half, mistakes, brain fades, ordinary. Second half, back to being the form player we know.

Cripps - Good but not dominant good. Made some silly decisions but his contribution was strong.

Hewett - He was solid. Didn't get a heap of it but he was good when he did.

Dow - Can we all just accept that Dow can play and that Voss was f****ing up by not selecting him earlier in the year? Proved it today. Took on the Walsh and Cerra role and helped us to a win. Gave us burst speed which is crucial in modern footy, kicked a clutch goal. He was good. He's not as good as Cerra or Walsh but does not have to be. He's in impact player who carries that ball forward of the contest. He's never going to get massive numbers but he's going to have that impact and he did just that.

Hollands - Was God awful early but finished strong, racked them up and finished well.

Kemp - Made some mistakes but he was good. His pace is valuable. He was brave, he was important for the defence. Had a lot of it and worked hard.

Cuningham - Quiet last week, pretty good this week.

Cottrell - did some good things but I wasn't impressed with his chasing and 0 tackle count. Finished the game alright.

Cincotta - he stood up, he was really good, won a lot of contests, found a fair bit of the footy and used it well.

Weitering - Great game, took his marks, used it well.

Martin - Just was on. Worked hard, played really well. He'll of a talent.

Marchbank - He was a bit untidy but finished the game well. Lacking match fitness which showed in a high pressure game but at least he took the game on all day, ran off and linked up.

DeKoning - terrible first half, much better second half. Out marked too often. Needs to pick his game up. Dropped too many marks.

Motlop - super good. He's really come on lately.

Owies - up and down game, in it early, made some mistakes, he contributed in the end.

Saad - super quiet but was more on the defence I think.

Curnow - double and triple teamed, held onto, illegally blocked, umpires looked the other way. Not good enough AFL, fans go to watch the gun forwards, not go to watch them take out of the game with illegal tactics and second rate umpiring not doing anything about it, that's what the rules are for. In saying that he wasn't at his best, still had one on one's where he didn't win them. His one goal however proved very important and he did some nice things up the field.

Pittonet - His marking, apart from one was not up to it. He needs to be more than just someone who competes in the ruck.

Fogarty - Could not find it, subbed out.

Ed - Came on very late, had some quality possessions.

I’m an unashamed Cuners fanboy - that “goal out of nothing” when the game was in the balance brings home what a talent and game changer he is - 7-0 with him in the team.

Get this boy to a GF please, he’ll light up the G

Such an intelligent footballer and it tells, only needs a few touches to hurt the opposition. His decision making and body positioning is elite. One trait a few of our players seem to have is the ability to make the right decision in a small amount of time.

Up there with a win we had over Essendon about 20 years ago, I think Bradley, Silvagni, Koutoufides were out, maybe others, Essendon were up and about buy we got the job done.

This win, in the context of things was massive. These are the sort of games, with the season on the line and finals a chance we just lose.

We kept attacking, kept the effort and ground them down. Their negative tactics came undone which was great to see.
