Whately says "The advantage call in the final 90 seconds was flat out wrong and don't let anybody tell you otherwise,"

Zorko sez no one could hear the whistle.
Where was the outrage when souf swans kicked the ball into the crowd after the siren and no 50 was granted

Umps were falling over themselves to favour Collingwood late. Whole game really but that advantage call plus the high contact free paid to Mitchell who caused the high contact by dropping in the last minute were disgraceful.

It’s a horrendous rule Mate. Goes against everything the game represents. Effectively makes one team a man down! It’s rubbish not being able to guard the mark
you may not like the rule, that's fine. but the whining here on it and, more importantly, blaming it on our decline when there have been a multitude of factors is embarrassing.

Blues will get the umpire corruption next, nothing surer people are asleep if they think this sport isn’t rigged
they got it this year

they'll just turbocharge it next year

I watched the 2020 GF on the weekend.
I just don’t get what the problem is with the man on the mark. The solution is to create this stupid free run. It hasn’t helped scoring, it’s probably reduced turnovers and created a basketball style defence where everyone simply falls back. Teams now take turns with the ball due to this stupid rule.
I’d like to see some hard evidence that precipitated this move. It’s a major change to the game and requires an evidence based thesis to justify it.
I won’t hold my breath.

Since I started watching football late 60s I've seen a centre square introduced, out of bounds free kick, one ump to 4, seen North win a flag from free agent 10 year rule, in those days it didn't stop Richmond. I've seen KB on rules committees spruiking reduced interchange. Seen boring Eagles and Swans teams grind out nil all draw grand finals. I saw Bowden walk the ball over the line.
I'm not in Victoria so I hear no media but Whateley's state of the game complaints. And resultant radical, untested rule changes did not stop us from winning a couple more flags.
I remember Demetriou saying once that the AFL being talked about constantly, smothering other codes was his aim. Random untried rule changes. Bring it on
If anyone challenges them, the AFL just claim they are working.
KB, and Benny should have made no comment about the stand rule.
AFL repeals none of its rules.
Dissent from last year is about it

On paper our team looked amazing at the start of 21 season.
We didn't seem to adjust to the stand
Rule changes and the 50m penalties were brutal.
A combination of stand rule, dusty long term injury etc and flag fatigue by the look of it.
Plus the 100k fine on Top of COVID cuts to club budgets in the midst of our flag wins Saw us lose important assistant coaches.

Left hand column below is 2019 goals kicked on average per game v right hand column 2023.

It shows we are seeing an extra 9.6 goals per full round, basically 1 extra goal per match in 2023 when compared to 2019. That is the sum total of what the combination of all these joke rules have added to the game. Stand rule and concomitant 50m penalties, kickins essentially from 25m out, and umpires using every excuse in the book to try to increase scoring, including the ludicrous umpire dissent fiasco.

Totally useless rule … it’s a fooking joke

No doubt it's not the only reason for our demise and we have not adjusted well. But the fact that it was brought in to target one team specifically by someone who then left to go to a team and that team (that we beat in a trifecta of finals) went on to win a flag is indicative of everything that is wrong with how the sport is run. The continued run of biased umpiring against us is further evidence that it's not an even contest.
