Targeting Lord is just revenge for Esava. It has Scott written all over it, rather than Mackie. Mackie is just the new kid on the block doing whatever the club dictator tells him to.

Scott refused to trade Esava last year and is determined to extract the highest price possible this year. He is banking on the fact we won’t walk Esava to the draft. That must be very tempting to us now. Clearly, Scott is saying:

”Whatever you do to get Esava this year we will do the same to Lord in 12 months.”

This is all bluff by Geelong. The key difference between the two cases, Esava and Ollie, is that Esava has declared he wants to leave the aging club run by the midget psychopath. If Scott really wants to keep Esava or thinks he is worth more than 24, why isn’t he offering the same terms to Esava we are? Why didn’t they offer him more last year? Why did they make him play the last 12 months at Geelong on substantially lower pay than he could’ve earned this year at Port?

It may be a smart move by Scott but only if he is prepared to commit to Lord now and pay him what we are paying Esava- if they are of equivalent trade value to him, is he prepared to pay Lord the same as we are paying Esava? Or is this all posturing and bluff?

No way Lord should be on the table.

Dixon cooked, Marshall one head clash away from being a liability, Giorgiadis returning from knee, Finlayson pretty cooked….

The fact Lord only played was mostly due to Dixon injuries is such a Ken thing.

Like refusing to play Evans who was at least kicking goals.

The end of Ken is coming.

It's a warning of what's coming next year if they don't or he doesn't want his contract extension extended.

We should trade Evans back to them.

Chris Scott is fantastic and Geelong are fantastic. We could only dream of our club being as strong as they are in every regard.

What's happening here is we're getting bullied by a bigger, stronger club with better leaders. All we need to do is stand up for ourselves - for example, by looking them in the eye and saying take 24 today or it's off the table and we're offering a third round pick tomorrow - and this negotiation would be simple and easy.

It's amazing that people criticise our club for being weak but also criticise the strength in other clubs.

Yea I dunno we are talking a fringe player here it's a bit ridiculous, I'm all for strong demands and stances but jeezus it's an uncontracted Esava.

Geelong are not a big club btw we play in a bigger home venue every fortnight.

It is a ridiculous demand so we should negotiate properly and be equally strong in response. The fact that 24 is still on the table is a joke. In actual real life business negotiations when one party is not acting in good faith that offer gets reduced or withdrawn completely.

Yea however it's not even week two of this period, people are saying what we'll do with nothing really happening at either end at least publically.

I totally disagree with you ... There are other strong, arguably stronger clubs, in Richmond, Collingwood, Hawthorn, and Melbourne, that are very fair to deal with both ways. Geelong are proving to be as pig-headed and stubborn as Essendon, they expect players and deals their way on the cheap, but demand the earth for players wanting out of the club.

"Strong club" ... sure!
Pig-headed, delusional ... absolutely!

Do I want Port to toughen up ... Sure!
Do I want them to emulate Geelong ... NO!

It’s smart by them asking the world. They know we think we’re a team on the march with one or two missing pieces ;) and getting desperate to have some “success” in the next two years to show for the stubborn decisions made by our heirarchy. They know Ken, Koch and co are all in to have their I told you so crowning moment. They know we want Esava to help out and try to cover some of our big deficiencies in defence.

Walk him to the draft and get in on the Nick Haynes dump as coverage.

No it won’t

Priority picks have already been handed out, and the vast majority it not all of the compo picks have been handed out.

That’s as far back as it’s going to go. If anything it will go forward as picks get eaten up by bids.

Don’t fall for the absolute morons who tell you that academy picks and f/s make it slide back. Think about it for a moment

Remind me why we don’t just walk him to the main draft and pick him up there.
Erh, because he does go into the main draft, it would be the preseason draft; where all the cellar dwellers have a pick before us.
And that includes North and the Hawks (who have already offered him a contract),

What are you talking about?

He can chose to either enter the psd or nat draft.
