fair few deals to go down. I reckon Esava goes to the wire, Mackie trying to make him sound like Jeremy Cameron lol
Not convinced we'll get billings. May just sort out the Shulz deal and thats it, that might get stretched to Wed as it is. Freo still dealing with Saints on Henry. But once thats done, it would be time to pack up

He looks amazing in the highlights, but every year the best KPF in the draft gets super hyped and is worth selling the farm over - from Tom Boyd, Patton, Logan McDonald - I could list about 15 blokes who were supposedly worth selling the farm over. Meanwhile most of the time you'd wish for your farm back and the best around at the moment were relatively unheralded in their draft years.

Yeah, when I heard that Lachie Shultz had nominated us I was expecting it to be a chump change deal. I don't really know much about him though and he's getting talked up as though he's on the verge of Papley - if that's true - throw a heap at him.

Its funny how someone goes from, a good player that nobody really talked about, to someone thats the new toby greene when said player is connected to collngwood lol His repuation seems to go higher by the day.
You'd think he was Jeremy Cameron at this point.
I hear what you are saying mate. I think most including me in support are simply saying our first rounder is a low 20’s pick. It’s garbage. Schultz is a late bloomer just hitting prime.
Regarding papley. I mean… stats aren’t Everything, but they do paint a similar picture. It’s the defensive side that we clearly rate as well

Reckon he is very different to most key forwards thats been in the competiton. The most comparable the way he plays is prob Charlie Curnow -- kinda looks like him too.
Strong overhead, athletic, tackles hard. He's a child in a 25 year old body lol And we know key forwards dont grow on trees.

I'm not doubting anyone's opinion. I just rarely watch Freo games and have no idea about him. I had the impression he was Owies, but I was pretty clearly wrong judging how highly he's rated.
I must admit, I didn’t know much about LS until now. And then I watched his highlights and was impressed.
He’s not as talented as papley, Greene, Cameron etc, but I think he’s more consistent in terms of overall performance. Papley in particular can go missing and then kick a bag. I think Schultz is much more well rounded. Hes almost a combination of mccreery and hill. Somewhat in between.
I think the fact we’ve offered him 5 years suggests we def rate him. In terms of capital, a late first is a steal IMO

Yeah if he's got an exciting ground level game as well it becomes another story - there's just not the space or enough one on ones to dominate anymore if you're just mark and kick. It's the mark and kick guys who get over-rated based on U18s and it doesn't really translate.

Billings is a weird one, his position and age profile really does not suit our list at all. He'll be 29 next year and slowing down...

Before the last two years of injury, he was going at high possessions and uses it well (I think). He'd be a wing option I suspect. We tend to use WHE for rotations on the wing, but he's a very dissimilar player to Sidey and Jaicos - Billings is more like them.

For next year's trade, could we make a chart of all the guys, we would like and all the guys, we think we could get in a trade, under each person's BF name? A separate column for each.
Like a competition between us supporters. See who has the best insight at the end of the trade season.

Well with the new EBA agreement and the average player wage somewhere between $390k and $520k, McStay seems bargain basement....

It seems that we tend to underrate players from WC and Freo, because we don't see a lot of their games in Melbourne.
Pavlich is the classic example - he was a true superstar, but would have been huge if he played for a Melbourne based club.
So we've seen little of Schultz, and he's flown under the radar, although our footy scouts will have been keeping an eye on him.
