AFLW 2024 - Round 4 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
14 Listed AFL players: Macrae, Darcy, O'Donnell, Arty Jones, Keath, Poullter, Garcia, Baker, Duryea, Busslinger, Clarke, Cleary, Freijah and Smith.
Bedendo makes 15.
I’m still holding out like a smidgen of hope, I actually think he was pretty solid defensively last year for the most part it was just the ******ed shit he did, but that might have been helped by the shockingly crap defensive structure we had around him where he was literally like the 3-4 best ball mover in the side…How nice would it be to get the old in form Keath back into the seniors

Put him in a very mobile defence alongside Jones, Buku, Ed, Coffield, JJ, Dale etc and just tell him to pull his head in and play the percentages. Intercept mark, defend and *ing handball the thing to runners. No risky kicks and runs down the corridor.
And maaaybe we might get a somewhat dependable 2nd tall again? Might be wishful thinking
He’s well and truly past that unfortunately, body is cooked. That being said, he’s on the list for a reason and if he can play a role on someone like Casboult for a game then that’s what he’s there for.How nice would it be to get the old in form Keath back into the seniors
Shushhh! Keep your voice down. They might hear you.I’m a big Bedendo fan, mostly based on his 2022 VFL form. What I can’t understand (repeating from other threads) is why the **** do North get priority picks while not making plays to bring Bedendo types in for free.
We gave Dom a 1-year extension presumably on base wages. Why did North not offer him 2 years including an effective $200K signing bonus. That would have been hard for him to turn down, and we would have had no right to demand anything other than a future 4th rounder (if anything). He’d be in their team every week and they’re desperate for some support for Larkey. Better use of the salary cap than throwing big money a Coleman-Jones and also parting with an early 2nd round pick.
The telling moment for me was a Max Gawn behind against us in 2022 (Jamarra 5-goal game). He’s well and truly past that unfortunately, body is cooked. That being said, he’s on the list for a reason and if he can play a role on someone like Casboult for a game then that’s what he’s there for.
The telling moment for me was a Max Gawn behind against us in 2022 (Jamarra 5-goal game).
Early in the 1st quarter, marking contest with 14:28 on the clock, Gawn flying into the pack but Keath couldn’t get off the ground. Ball spills free and 6 seconds later Gawn is marking unopposed while Keath is still trying to pick himself up off the ground. As an isolated incident it’s fine, maybe he just got winded in that contest, but it’s a semi regular occurrence.
It’s such a shame as in 2021 I thought he was deserving of being in the AA squad and I think the consensus view when he missed the Prelim was he was in our top 3 players we could least afford to miss.
How did freijah goFootscray VFL Practice Match today vs Werribee at Whitten Oval.
Footscray 14. 15 (99) def Werribee 8. 8 (64)
Goals: Bedendo 4, Darcy 3, Clarke 1, Scott 1, Poulter 1, Montgomery 1, Willoughby 1
Best: Garcia, Darcy, Bedendo, Macrae, Keath, Baker, Scott, Poulter
14 Listed AFL players: Macrae, Darcy, O'Donnell, Arty Jones, Keath, Poullter, Garcia, Baker, Duryea, Busslinger, Clarke, Cleary, Freijah and Smith.
Werribee are a strong VFL team and challenged us, however, the cream rose to the surface - and as we have seen throughout this month - we have dominated second halves, which highlights our fitness base.
O'Donnell received a head knock in first quarter. Did not return, so it is safe to assume he will be absent next week under concussion protocols.
Baker went off the field at 3/4 time and will be our standby emergency for tomorrow's AFL match
Bedendo was excellent - he snagged four and almost kiched a fifth. He took a screamer and split his time between wing and deep forward. Put his hand up for selection.
Darcy dominant. Missed two easy set shots, so should have had five. Otherwise a strong game and keeps the heat on Lobb.
Macrae had leather poisoning. Racked up the possessions and will surely be in calculations for round 2.
Garcia in and under - continues to impress with speed and tenacity. Love what he brings.
Arty Jones quiet day at the office.
Keath was the general down back - ideal match up for Casboult for the Suns next week, one would assume.
Tony Scott another strong performance - leadership and forward pressure was a standout.
Thanks for the report, geez JOD is having a sh1te run with injuries. How did freijah go

The whole VFL competition & fixturing is a joke. I genuinely believe I could do a better job with half a day and an excel spreadsheet. Why the * can’t this start at 11 at least so we can actually watch it? Just ridiculous fixturing in this league
I will just watch the replay later onWhy the * can’t this start at 11 at least so we can actually watch it? Just ridiculous fixturing in this league
