I don't think the Essendon list is nearly as bad as some of the media pundits made out after their Port defeat.

While their top 6 mightn't match the very best sides, their next dozen always look incredibly even to me and why they can be dangerous if they have the required mindset.

They had turned to a rabble the last time we played but the prior 3 games were hotly contested.

They’ve caused us issues for the last 2 years or so. Merrett mentioned their capitulation last year in Rd 23 so I think this week is something they’ll set themselves for, and probably have had an eye on for a few weeks now.

Realistically we came from the clouds last Anzac Day and the game before that.

They looked more than beatable last night, not worried at all

Wasn’t even the worst non decision in the last few minutes. Was a far more blatant holding the ball a minute or 2 earlier where the player ran a couple of metres taking on the tacklers and got caught, ball up.

a more blatant one was Lions Coleman in about last 3 minutes of GF. Tackled in front of our goal and he got a BS free for high contact. They then got another free downfield to neale, then Mc cluggage goes out of bounds and inboard to daniher for a goal to get Lions within 4. Should have been a 16 point win to Pies but all we hear about was the non advantage call in last minute.

This is correct, it was a garbage “throw your head back and hope” free. Didn’t get taken high at all.

I'll happily accept any Carlton loss but even I will admit those blue bastards are up against it today with their injury list.

GWS are missing a couple of stars also but if they're the real deal they should be able to get the job done.

If Carlton win then gee whiz they've gone from looking like a complete basket case of a list this time last season to having undeniable depth.

I hope they're annihilated.
