They looked okay early in the season, but now look terrible. I can't see them making the 8, especially now with Petracca out.

I think this the season is really down to three teams (Sydney, Collingwood and Carlton) potentially 4 if Brisbane can continue with the form they showed today. My gut tells me not to trust the Bombers, other than that the other teams will just be fighting it out for 5th-8th
Would you take Goodwin as coach if Melbourne didn't make the 8?

Some real pure gold from the PAP Board :$ :drunk:...."The Creed"

They stopped being the true PAFC in 1997 yet their delusional fan base keep holding onto it….despite Koch and Co gradually erasing everything to do with the Magpies.

The 1870; the creed etc means absolute SFA now and has no relevance to the AFL side.

They were thrashed in the Russell Ebert tribute match; they were thrashed today when they were celebrating their premiership and when they’ve worn the prison bar guernsey (or are they the wharf pylons??) in the showdowns we’ve beaten them.

They are one of 18 clubs. And their club aren’t any more special than the rest despite what their supporters believe.

Can Port afford to pay out Hinkleys contract if they sack him end of this year if they miss finals?

What is going to go down for the worst re-signing? Crows before we won a game for the season and now another bottom 4 finish or Port in August before the straight sets exist?

We're winning that contest.

Both are terrible.

I still laugh at the Hinkley resigning last year. The whole thing was a massive cluster****. As soon as they made the announcement that they wouldnt look at it until August, they locked themselves into making a decision then. Once Port had their run of wins they were almost forced to give him a new contract. All they had to say was they would look at it at the end of the year. Then he would have been gone after another straight sets finals exit.

He has the make Finals clause. Hence the August deadline. You know in August if you play Finals or not.

Plus it is rare for an AFL club to sack a coach after making Fimals. About 3 times in the AFL era....

just knew this would happen. its the AFL and a vic club, I mean, cmon. I'm not totally sure where I sit on it still tbh.
But there were a few on here who were quite arrogantly shut down my casual assumption that Melb would get some form of relief when I mentioned that Melb would have a bit of $ to spend this off season.

I honestly didn’t think it would happen as it opens a can of worms.

They're clearly drawing a line between head injury and any other type of injury.
I guess if there's a 'medical retirement' by an independent panel, there's some level of legitimacy to it all.
I'm with Kane on the long term contracts side of things though, Buyer beware.

Buyer beware exactly. You win the fight for a player by offering an extended contract to seal the deal and blow others out of the water, you should have to take what might come with that.

So if Melb restructure Brayshaw so that he is paid $3 mil this season alone, then only $300,000 will be in the salary cap.

Even if its too late to restructure it this year and they've already paid him $750k this season, if they put the remaining 2.25m into 2025, only $562,500 will come out of the cap, and he's then all paid up.

I was pretty angry after our capitulation to sydney where we played well for 2.5 quarters and then they went on a 10 goal to none run. They just did that again but this time to a GWS side with a far stronger midfield than ours. They are steamrolling sides
