Are they going to beat Brisbane for us?

Playing devils advocate for a second, while their list profile absolutely sucks in the next couple seasons, there’s a slim chance they could get a Craig McRae style bounce if they modernise their game plan

Outside chance. The Pies still had the majority of the 2018 talent plus Naicos.

Fully fit their mids are good and their KPP as well, but almost all of their flanks and pockets are terrible.

The question becomes who in their right mind would actually want to take the job? I can't remember who said it yesterday (maybe King) but re-build coaches don't survive the re-build. With the list needing to be gutted and re-built it is a shit situation to walk into.

I feel for him - it's a ruthless industry and you can go from hero to zero in a heartbeat; but the writing was on the wall when they reverted back to mean after a few surprise good wins against us (gulp!) and the Dees. You just can't leave what's broken unfixed.....I'm just relived they didn't do it before the Derby as others have said, selfish vested interests and all dat.

Depends how settled he is here, but wouldn't be surprised to see him back at North in the near future...
It’s appalling that the individual responsible for this, Teflon Trev, has walked away leaving the ashes to someone else.

If they get Cox, then it'll be like us.
3 or 4 years before finals.
Got rid of a stale coach (Lyon/Simpson), get new blood etc
Still got to draft well, that's the hard part

I reckon Cox is waiting for the Sydney gig.

There is, but I don't rate much of their younger talent beneath Reid and there's ABSOLUTELY no certainty Reid won't do a Horne-Francis Bacon and pork off. I mean, fork off..........you know what I mean.

Ginbey and Chesser look 'ok", but ok isn't nearly good enough in the long-term future, then once retirements and delistings occur, is their youth developing quickly enough or projecting to be good enough?! I don't know, I'd say the next drafts or however many before Tassie emerge are crucial for them now. Let's hope they blow it; it's been too much fun bar the one disaster earlier this year!
It’s not about the young talent, I’m talking about a new coach extracting something more out of the old guys, one last run at it. Simpson’s game plan was quite outdated.

It's seductive because of Gov, Barrass, Yeo, Allen, Waterman, Reid etc but then you look at the 12-23 players and you see why its unlikely. From their "near full strength" team against the Hawks:

Hunt
Witherden
Hough
Ryan
Cripps
Jones
Rotham
Cole
Brockman
Williams
Chesser
Maric

If we're generous and say that Ryan and Cripps can recapture some top end form and grant that say Hough (who I do rate) and Hunt at B grade, they still have 8 blokes they are barely AFL standard.

He should have said, "That *&^% Tim Kelly wrecked my life!"
