Back in the good days where people weren't pissants and just rolled up to a game if they felt like it and stood in the outer and didnt need seats and didn't ride electric scooters or push bikes and shelled and ate peanuts that got thrown at em.
Campaigners would sue now if a peanut hit em on the head.

Which game, the second semi or the one at VFL Park?
It was the Geelong game I believe

In the Carlton game Wood played and it was Monteith out.

The Wrap
Richmond 6.3 11.4 16.7 18.8 (116)
Carlton 2.1 5.5 5.8 10.14 (74)

Goals
Rich: Bartlett 6, Weightman 4, Wiley, Jess 2, Roach, Wood, Bourke, Scrimshaw
Carl: Catoggio, Klomp 2, Armstrong, Ashman, McConville, Marcou, Harmes, Mackay

Major Stats
In his record-breaking game, Kevin Bartlett’s six goals was the obvious headline-stealer. Only Geoff Raines (31), Robbie Wiley (28) and Barry Armstrong (23) managed to win more of the ball than KB (22).

But the real contrast between the two sides was the prominence of Richmond’s lesser lights in the absence of key men Cloke, Monteath and Rowlings, and Carlton’s stars, who were almost universally subdued. Scrimshaw, Welsh and Strachan, all played prominent roles for the Tigers. Johnston – the finals specialist – 9 touches. Wells – who torched us just a month ago – just 15 possessions.

Mike Fitzpatrick outpointed Lee in the ruck, but any advantage he gave his side was eclipsed by Richmond’s dominant midfield.

Attendance
59,014 at VFL Park

It reads like it was the Carlton game. KB kicked 8 in the second semi.

Wood kicked a goal in the Carlton game which was the qualifying final Hoosy.
I think it was the Cats game as Captain_Bender mentioned.
He said Cloke, Wood and Rowling’s out.

it was a long time ago so I’m going on what I can find. Wooden Robot remembers details like this so hopefully he can help out.

The Carlton game
Outs were Cloke Monteath and Rowlings

Wood definitely missed the Geelong game as AFL Tables show only playing the QF and GF.

Cloke and Rowlings missed the first two finals; Monteath played the Geelong one.
I tell ya, Ian Scrimshaw was as stiff as all hell to miss the Granny.
17 disposal and a one goal in both finals and in the best players v Geelong.
Freame somehow came in for the Geelong fonal having not played a game all year, fared ok, and somehow got a gig GF day.
Wiley topped the 30 posession mark against the Ctss.
Geez he was a star.

Yep that’s how I thought it went. Wood definitely missed the Cats game . This was the confusion mate.
I loved Wiley and Rowlings. KB still my favourite Tiger of all time.
Ian Schrimshaw was effing stiff alright. Bro and I couldn’t believe Freame got a gig.

Two games all season Freame ... and only two the next year to round out his Tigers stay at 17 senior games from 77 to 81.
Amazing!
