Was very pleased with my Melb Mara run! Finished with a time of 3:27:xx which I was stoked with for a debut marathon. Stuck with the 3:30 pace group for the first half and then slowly pulled a bit ahead, but lost a bit of speed in the last 8km when the sun started getting a bit intense and the...
Great stuff, glad it's all coming together! Yeah I'm trusting the training and race-day adrenaline to get me over the line at that pace.
Good luck to you too, hope you feel refreshed with this upcoming week!

Went op shopping yesterday and found a couple pairs of running shorts (which I love...
I didn't end up buying specific race shoes (didn't think it was worth the money if this ends up being my only marathon). So wearing the shoes I've done most of my training long runs in (asic gel kayanos).
Might see ya in the 3:30 pace group then!
Last long run (22k) before the Melb Mara today!
This taper has been great - legs feeling a lot more fresh, and mind is feeling good too. First marathon and feeling in good nick to target sub-3:30 :D
But also very keen to be able to just run for fun again especially with the weather improving...
My Melb Mara training is also going well. Deload week last week so back to normal programming this week. Will be my first 60km+ week this week which is cool.
Also anyone know what days/times Olympic Park track is open to the public? Not sure when it's used by Collingwood for their training...
The weather the last few days in Melbourne has been glorious. Slugging it through consistently running in shitty winter weather has made my runs the last few days feel even better, 20C and sunny over my lunchtime run today and was genuinely tops off weather haha
I know this is an old thread, but has anyone done 100 x 100m sprints before? Keen to maybe give it a go this summer if I can convince some mates to do it with me.
Stinking hot in Melbourne today but the only time I could run today was during my lunch break so it was split shorts on, shirt off, all guns a blazing 💪 bring on summer runs!
Finished sub-1:40 in the 2XU Half Mara today — first HM race so very pleased with that time!
Bloody sore though, keen for a bit of a break 😆 wish I had the foresight to take tomorrow off to rest up, especially with how nice the weathers gonna be in Melb tmr!
Melb Mara 2024 regos opened on Wednesday, and yesterday they were already 70% filled :fearscream:
One of my mates signed up so I decided to do so as well. First mara next year I guess, future me's problem to train for that haha.
Thanks for this, this is really useful! Yeah I'm normally an evening runner and probably only done 1-2 long runs early in the morning which is why the nutrition part is a bit more of an unknown. But I think I'll just wake up super early and eat what I know sits well - thank you!
Ah man as someone who jumped on the giants bandwagon in September (their social media game was elite and I needed some hope that Carlton/Collingwood wouldn't dominate), I'm loving the orange training tops. Really keen to buy one whenever they go on sale lol.
Been on the flexi H&A last couple years, a few mates and I were considering upgrading to a reserved seat. But the flexi H&A membership cost itself went up like 25% so we decided not to jump up a membership level too.
Got my first half-marathon this Sunday (2XU Wellness Run in Melbourne) and nerves are starting to kick in!!
Did the 10k at the Melb Mara earlier this year so thankfully it's not my first race. But it is my first long-distance race!
Distance-wise I'll be fine, ended up doing a 21k as part of my...
Oh Black Friday is apparently next week lol. Why have I been getting so many emails from companies saying their black friday sale starts today then haha
Anyone got their eye on any running gear in Black Friday sales? I'm keen to get some running sunnies, and maybe make the plunge to some 3-inch seam shorts if I can find some at a good price.
The logo looks pretty clean on the training tops the boys were wearing in the post the club made today. (And on that note, the orange training tops looks soooo good)
Was up in Sydney over the weekend for a wedding and took my running gear up which I think means I'm addicted :tearsofjoy:
Did the Bay Run on Saturday (double loop) and Sunday morning and bloody hell is Sydney humid compared to Melbourne. I asked a few weeks ago here on thoughts on running...
Ran my first half marathon yesterday let’s goooo
Was feeling good on a long run and just figured why stop at 18k when I can just go the distance 🤷♂️ 1:51, pretty happy with that time.
30c in Melb tomorrow even in the evening, gonna be a stinker for my intervals
Hey guys, started running over winter (after dabbling in 5k's here and there during lockdown) and now training for a half mara. Definitely enjoying running more now that I have a goal and have realised that I don't need to be aiming for a PB every run!
Couple questions:
Any tips on finding a...
Saw the pics. The folder of pics of Player X — half a dozen were screenshots of a video sent from Player Y of him and Player X in their jocks lmao straight boys are wild
Hey guys, new member here after a bit of advice.
Did my ankle in our last footy match this year (tibia fracture and some torn ligaments), resulting in ankle ORIF surgery a month ago. I’m now finally off crutches and fully weight bearing in a moon boot. I’ve been doing some basic upper body...
