Was a good win by the Marsh who in years past would have wilted in the 4th quarter.
I think the standard of football was quite poor, a very scrappy game littered with basic skill errors and limited defensive pressure. Would be surprised if either team was relevant in the last couple of weeks in...
Will be interesting to see what happens at the Snake Pit this season. Showed some promise towards the end of last season but decided to do a Brisbane and get rid of the coach who was well liked and improving.
Also lost a couple of their better players (denham, Wilson boys) and have an untried...
Any side that is outside the top 6 should be building towards a point in time where they can recruit high quality players and have a crack at top 4 spot. Sebas and Melton need to build from within first (like lake wendouree and Bacchus) and also build finances so in 2 or three years time they...
Agreed. There are 4 tiers in this comp.
Flag Favorites - Sunbury, North City and Redan - Clearly better than the rest of the comp when healthy. Sunbury has elite players, solid team culture and structure. North City dont quite have the talent level of Sunbury but have an elite coaching and team...
I wouldn't say never threatened, there were some poor mistakes made by the Marsh at crucial times which cost them dearly. Also have a few passengers which were clearly exposed. Darley were the better side for most of the day but their flaws were shown. Poor kicking for goal has been their...
Would assume that they play chambers on him with other defenders providing significant help. Be interesting to see if the Marsh can identify other forwards or if they just bomb it in to him?
He told the club that he was not going to continue on in 2013 mid way through last year and continued to coach out the year. I believe that this is similar to the situation with Gary Learmonth?
I think you are looking with the benefit of hindsight and without understanding the contractual obligations and situation that Bacchus Marsh were in at the time. The club had already committed to Dave Callandar for another year, who had done a solid job bringing the club out of the mire that is...
Being around the club for a very long time I have to agree with much of what has been discussed above. The fallout of Devon Sproule was pretty large, although, the next couple of years with Stuhldrier at the helm weren't totally unsuccessful. There was a significant exodus of players after a...
Darley were too good. However you were clearly not watching the game closely. There was a very stiff breeze blowing down the grey street end making it difficult to score at the other end. (No goals scored at that end until last quarter). Yes they played a spare in the backline when kicking...
Abbott was a regular senior player although his performances were pretty ordinary, think the guys coming up from 18s will perform equal if not better than he did. Schwalger whilst handy, often had a lot of negatives to go with his positives. Fairly certain they won't be missed that much...
Not a huge recruiting off season for Bacchus Marsh.
Apart from Hanson, no one of note has left so the following players will boost the squad somewhat.
Adam Skrobolak will be playing 10 games, when his commitments with the Western Jets do not clash.
Mike Suban has returned from North Ballarat...
Sunbury would be odds on for back to back. North City will be up there after acquiring edwards. Redan will be strong even without edwards as they have a great junior program and have significant depth. After that there will be a drop off. I think Darley may drop off a tad after losing Porter. He...
Darley are in better form, and I think should win. Will be interesting to see if East, Darley or Nth City can mount a challenge against either Sunbury or Redan.
This could be the straw that broke the camel's back.
Clear ballarat bias, the eastern bloc teams should appeal the decision at the VCFL.
And Aaron Nunn should resign effective immediately, severe conflict of interest between his role as administrator and affiliation with the BFC.
Darley looking ominous although would have expected more from Melton South on the weekend considering the implications for their season if they lost. Darley would be eyeing off that 3rd spot with a massive game against Nth City in two weeks time.
This is untrue, whilst we have been in the league longer than other eastern bloc clubs we have always had issues with the impartiality of umpiring and tribunal decisions stemming from being one of two sides that were non-Ballarat based and getting the same if not worse treatment to all eastern...
Probably need to get a representation of eastern and western bloc clubs on the tribunal and all other matters, not just a bunch of relics from Ballarat who have ingrained bias against the eastern sides.
I think Redan are the best side in the comp, with Sunbury not far behind.
The comp is pretty even though, see by the results on the weekend, and there could be one of these sides to sneak into the GF
That incident is old news Kerr and has been already dealt with, surprised you didn't know about that already considering you seem to have a handle on everything happening. Coach hasn't been sacked nor has he resigned, took training last night and is looking forward to taking on Sebas this week.
