Player Watch Welcome to Hawthorn - Conor Nash. Extends to 2029!

Player Watch Mark Keane (Retired 2022, Crows SSP 2023)

Fairytale stuff for young Keane, huge result in Ireland in a knock out comp. I assume he's been cleared by the club to play, which is great for him.

Player Watch Mark Keane (Retired 2022, Crows SSP 2023)

You clearly don't agree with the recruitment of Irish players, that's fine. But once they're here they deserve to be assessed on their merits, not just because you have a thing against Irish players and by the looks of the above and the tone of plenty of your other posts, Irish people...

    Past Barry O'Connor - delisted 2022

I posted the below a few weeks ago on the Geelong board, which will give you an idea of the tiers as I see them. Looking forward to seeing COR this year, thought he was really starting to flourish pre-injury last year. His best traits seem to be his reading of the play, leadership and driving...

    Toast Mark O'Connor

As a Irishman, I've a keen interest in this and I'd rank them in tiers along the following lines: Irish GOAT: Stynes - Brownlow and 244 consecutive games. Nothing more to be said really Top Tier (100+ games & good-solid players): Kennelly, Hanley, Tuohy, Wight. Kennelly obviously won a flag...

Player Watch Welcome to Hawthorn - Conor Nash. Extends to 2029!

Over the cold, dead bodies of every man, woman and child in Kerry. I think they've confiscated his passport :D Yep. Currently in Dublin but did an extended stint in Melbourne a few years back

Player Watch Welcome to Hawthorn - Conor Nash. Extends to 2029!

Congrats to Conor on getting a contract extension - any word on what the duration is? Given that he would have potential pro rugby and high level Gaelic Football to return to in Ireland, it's certainly a win for the Hawks to lock him in beyond the initial couple of years. I watched both of the...

Irish unhappy with aussies stealing their players

The main reason that the current Leinster championship is shit is because the likes of Meath and Kildare are punching well below their weight in terms of producing good teams. Not Dublin's fault really. A few more games outside Croker would be good all the same. The Dublin dominance will be...

Pakistan tour of Ireland, England and Scotland (3 Tests, 2 T20Is)

Yeah it's a great setting and easily accessible from town. After all the rain on Friday, Saturday was an absolute cracker of a day. Unfortunately Malahide is not really sustainable as a long term venue as it's all temporary stands and I doubt they'd get planning approval for anything permanent.

Pakistan tour of Ireland, England and Scotland (3 Tests, 2 T20Is)

I went along on Saturday - beautiful day for it and a special moment being there for the first ball of Ireland's test adventure. Saturday's play was pretty even by normal test match standards. Murtagh bowled absolutely beautifully, both economical and threatening and looked right at home in the...

Afghanistan and Ireland gain test status

Barry McCarthy is the best pace bowling prospect. Had a good year with Durham and played well any opportunities he got with Ireland. Chase has improved but Young is constantly injured and isn't exactly, uh, young anymore. I'd be surprised if Joyce doesn't play for another couple of years with...

International Rules - Australia v Ireland

The round ball used in the IR games is different to a normal O'Neills ball used in Gaelic Football. Slightly smaller and significantly lighter. So it's a bit of a leveler as the Irish boys wouldn't be familiar kicking that ball either. Other than that I enjoyed the game, the last couple of...

Retired #45: Conor McKenna ☘️ - Returning to the AFL to play with Brisbane - 17/11

Hi folks - My mate did an interview with Conor this week for one of the main Irish papers which I figured you might be interested in having a look at. The interview is pretty general and is quite Gaelic Football focused given Conor's county Tyrone are playing in the All Ireland semi final...

2017 Lions Reserves and NEAFL thread

Ciaran Sheehan at Carlton got an extra year on the rookie list (this year being his fourth) after I think Carlton made a case to the AFL, as he had missed about 18 months with various injuries. I'm not sure if he is still classed as a Cat B rookie or had to be moved onto the main rookie list...

Round 13 trades ..(double full stop)

Yeah I think that's the call I'd be making as well. I think it's fair to assume both can average 105 from here on but Yeo could easily go up or down at least 5 ppg from that. Less risk of that deviation from Macrae
  17. S

Round 13 trades ..(double full stop)

Yeo if you're going for overall ranking, Macrae's consistency if you're focusing on league wins. Will probably both average around the same but Yeo via 130's and 70's, Macrae via straight up tons.

Round 13 trades ..(double full stop)

Option 2 is a great trade. Option 1 depends on whether you need to do it to field 18. Fyfe's b/e is less than 100 so if you don't need to trade for bodies on the field purposes then I'd give it a week and see how he looks next week.

Round 13 trades ..(double full stop)

Steele out makes the decision to trade him less of a headf**k. Taranto, Steele & Fyfe >>> Heeney, Yeo & Scooter Not convinced on trading Fyfe, still think he'll average 105 coming home but this allows me to get 18 on the field this week with only Barrett, Parsons & (Newman) as non-premos...

    Round 11 Trades

Same trades except Berry out instead of Barrett. Looks good :thumbsu:

Player Watch Welcome to Hawthorn - Conor Nash. Extends to 2029!

My mate did an interview with Conor last week that was published on a popular Irish sports website over the weekend. It gives a very decent insight into the depth of recruitment you guys are doing in Ireland and the decision making process he had to go through before deciding on Hawthorn over...

List Mgmt. Irish Rookie Mark O'Connor upgraded and will debut

First of all, congrats to young O'Connor on his promotion, it'll be very interesting to see how he gets on. A different era perhaps, but it's not too long ago that Marty Clarke had a similarly meteoric rise to the seniors in his first season - I think he played maybe 10 VFL games before...

    Round 4 trades

That's my main concern with Stef. Archie will get games at some stage. Grundy has no real threat to his scoring or position

    2nds Northern Blues 2017

Great bit of writing huddler. Hopefully Sheehan can keep his body right and get a run in the firsts sooner rather than later.

    The Associates thread

Ireland are in a poor enough place at the moment. Aging stars, poor coaching and lack of trust in the youth all culminated in that horror show against Afghanistan. Who, to be fair, look like a really quality side on the up and should progress rapidly up the rankings in the next few years and are...

    Is The Irish Experiment Over?

Will play every game if fit: P Hanley - GCS Z Tuohy - Geelong Should play a decent amount of games: C Byrne - Carlton (would be best 22 if not recovering from ACL) C Sheehan - Carlton (fingers crossed on fitness) C McKenna - Essendon Will likely get at least a couple of games to impress: C...

Analysis 2016 List Management Discussion - Part 2

Thanks mate. Agreed, it's a huge pity that he has never had a chance to build on 2014. Is there any mechanism by which he can be released and then re-rookied again? Not sure whether that's allowed or not. A one year primary list contract is about the best that can probably be expected I'd say
