I love the fact we are having a crack at Oliver but seemingly only our terms. I reckon it’s only a small chance it happens. And that’s fine. But if it does happen, I can’t see us paying more than 800-900K per year and not giving up any more than a future first. Maybe Oliver would agree to taking...
Not sure I can see the Clayton trade happening, unless Melbourne really want him gone. I would guess that Geelong wouldn’t be willing to pay more than $900K per year and that requires Melbourne to chip in about 300K per year for 6 years. Not to mention haggling over what the trade value in this...
Firstly, I do not like the the OP, saying we dropped the cup and picked up our handbags. Seriously man! We lost a thriller to the eventual premiers, who won 14 of their last 16 games.
This year has exceeded expectations. If you told me at the start of the year we would be transitioning out of...
Always a lot of consternation about rucks. That position is so overrated, unless you’ve got a Gawn at their peak, they don’t really move the needle. We can cope with a combination on either Stanley/Conway/Bicavs/SDK. I mean, look at some of the premiership ruckman of the last decade: Fort...
I am very comfortable going into 2025 with the following team. As always, a bad run of injuries will expose our depth. This year we had a pretty good run, especially in the forward line. I am assuming we keep some of the veterans for depth, but who knows?

Was at the game tonight and obviously disappointed to lose. But coming 2 years after a flag helps to ease the grief. So proud to barrack for this club. We tried our best and got beaten by a slightly better team. Every year we try and win the flag while introducing new players.
So 2 years after...
Looking at how young Ashcroft is playing right now after recovering from an ACL, shows how it’s possible to bounce back. Every case is different, but that is the best case scenario and Bazlenka seems to be in full training so fingers crossed.
The Jezza trade ended up being picks 15, 18 and 25. We got back 2 picks in the 30s which we then traded the next year to the Bulldogs for pick 25 (Knevitt).
So Jezza for 2 late first rounders was the biggest steal of all time.
Incidentally, the same draft saw us use your Jordan Clarke pick...
First round 2024 and F2 is fair I think for Smith.
I think deleting/retirements will be : Hawk, Tuohy, Stanley and Parfit
Incoming : Smith, Rd2, Rd3, Rd4
Others in jeopardy on the main list are Foster and Willis. Maybe we delist one of those and upgrade Clohesy?
It was mentioned on SEN breakfast that Geelong give players the option to fly one or two days before the game. They trust them to go at their own schedule. So that would explain that.

It can be a pattern where we name a normal best 23 player (like SDK) on the emergency list because there are one or two players with niggles who will probably come out.
Time will tell.
Bews has certainly come from nowhere to be playing this final. The likes of O’Connor, Mullin and Humphries were to picked ahead of him early to mid season. Was beaten by Rachelle in the Adelaide game, but here we are. With Tuohy needed as a wing, I assume Bews is sub.
SDK as an emergency is a...
I think they will go with SDK in the ruck and drop Rhys. Which gives us the same lineup and structure as the last game vs WCE.
ie Tuohy on the wing, Holmes and Duncan in defence. Blitz in the ruck when Dixon goes there. As for sub, not sure? Rohan, Bews, Mullin?
Here is a 23 for next year that only has Danger, Stewart and Jezza as 30+ year olds.

Watching the highlights of our last game v Port, our centre square mids where CGuthrie (lacking zip and form), Blitz (playing mid and was ineffective, Atkins, Parfitt and Clarke. Stanley was getting spanked by Visentini, so was subbed off, Blitz went into the ruck and Mulin tagged JHF. And we...
SDK hasn’t played a single minute forward this year. So expect him to line up at CHF this week and give Stanley a chop out in the ruck - sorry having flashbacks to 2019.

This highlights the crazy evenness of 2024. In round 10, Port had a miracle win against hawks where they kicked 2 goals in the last 40 seconds to win, including the winner right on the siren. If Hawks win that, they are 2nd, Port 3rd and Cats 4th.
I’m thinking Tuohy will be sub. We’ll put Holmes back to half back, run with Blicavs on the wing, and rotate 5 midfielders - Danger, Stewart, Atkins, Bruin and Bowes.
If, and it’s a big if, Stanley can stay fit and play to an OK level, this is pretty much our best 22. Just swap Bews with...
Can’t be a good sign for Guthrie that he has gone from 3 weeks to TBC. You’d have to write off any chance of getting Guthrie of 2022 back this year.
