How do you know they’re best mates? I have no doubt they’ve crossed paths and were both in the AFL academy together but it appears they have played a very limited number of games together?
Having players at different stages in their development, contracts expiring at different times and talent spread over two years would have it’s benefits.
I’d be very surprised if we traded out a first rounder tomorrow for a future first. However on draft night if clubs want to reach for a...
Sun’s have a lot of academy prospects next year, they’re already trying to get a first rounder for next year from Collingwood and the value of points is also changing so I’d be surprised if the Suns won’t to give up a future pick.
I think this is a really good and wise perspective, I would also love to see his TOG.
Between having multiple injuries, completing year twelve, playing school footy, the U/18 carnival, the Coates League and U/18 I can totally appreciate how difficult it would be to have continuity and build up...
To be fair Jagga also missed games due to the National Carnival and played three games for our VFL side, lets not start creating false narratives mate.
Unrealistic mate, i think if the trade in centred around us getting picks 9 & 10 it’s a fair and good trade. We would likely have to do include and additional pick or two back to Freo but with the number of picks we’re likely to end up with that shouldn’t affect us.
I feel as though posters try to use a Jagga Smith and Tom Mitchell comparison in a negative way.
Tom Mitchell is a 200 game player, Brownlow medalist, premiership winner, Leigh Matthew’s trophy winner, three time club BnF winner and a multiple time All Australian.
I know Tom Mitchell’s no...
I haven’t mentioned any chronic injuries. However, if a player has multiple injuries during their draft year it does perceive them to be a riskier selection.
FOS hasn’t been able to deliver onfield to the level that was expected so it’s reasonable for that lack of form to impact peoples...
Absolutely right mate, i think it’s what makes the decision so interesting and challenging. We’re not comparing two comprisable seasons as to who’s had the better year, it’s two very different years.
Personally i think it’s really clear where Jagga’s talents sit and feel between now and the...
I find myself going between Jagga and FOS, if we’re able to compare them both to Brownlow medalists we’re in a position to draft a really good prospect.
My concern with FOS has been his inability to remain fit throughout the season, the talent is there but if the fitness issues continue...
I think with how current football is played blokes like Nick Daicos, Lachie Neale, Caleb Serong, Zac Merrett, Chad Warner, Harry Sheezel, Erol Gulden and Chad Warner have all been looked at as “stat padders” or had their disposal impacts question, however they’re also viewed as some of the best...
Interesting, thank you! I think it could help us avoid having a pick pushed back due to Battle compo but i’d imagine it makes Graham’s compo less unless he gets a 4+ year deal.
Looks like academy rules are changing for this year and clubs will be able to now match bids from their academy players anywhere in the draft and not just after pick 40...
