Re: Trent Stubbs
I love your enthusiasim BuddyHawkers and the fact that your trying to turn the spot light on Mahoney to make us all feel better. Thank you :).
LEt's just prey that Mahoney turns in to a better player.
My only concern is he won't be as good as stubbs. Let's all cross...
Re: Trent Stubbs
SEN guest speaker just raised Stubbs saying that because of the injury he did not get a lot of light on him.
At the pick Collingwood used, it's a steal.
You can carve me up, but I guarentee Stubbs will be a player.
If it doesn't happen then I'll delete my BF account...
Re: Trent Stubbs
Smiddaz, if you haven't read the 220,000 posts about Trent Stubbs on the Hawks board, I'll sum it up for you nice and quick.
* NSW scholarship player, groomed by the hawks from 15.
* One of the most promising NSW listed players running around until he copped injury this...
He sounded like an overnight sport caller. :D
Sounds like a good honest bloke. Hopefully he can make a career for himself. If there is one thing I think we've done in this draft is added mature bodies.
Smith: 21
Puopolo: 23
Hallahan looks good. Did he slide because of an injury...
Rapt with the selections. Great work Pelican and co.
Issac Smith @ 19.... What a steal.
Touted to go to the cats @ 15 and some say could have went even lower.
To be honest, I dearly hope that who ever we pick up with #19 is the best available that can fill one of our holes e.g. tall versatile defender/small forward.
If there is a promising mid that has slipped then take him. Building for our future!!
Our defense should be fairly solid next year...
Re: Cameron Bruce to Hawks? Seriously..
I may be wrong, but the way Lamb's tyres have been pumped up recently, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes top 15.
Picking up bruce in the pre-season draft is fine with me if this means Changa is released from his shackles and is placed back in to...
Here is an article about Johnny Plattens young fella:
http://news-review-messenger.whereilive.com.au/news/story/a-new-rat-in-the-ranks/
Today he would be 16 years of age and would likely be drafted in 2013.:D:thumbsu:
I was just reading a thread relating to the father-son selection Essendon will have in the 2012 draft - Joe Daniher.
Excluding Will Langford, do the hawks have any father-son selections coming through in the next few years?
Would be interesting to know!! :thumbsu:
Re: Trent Stubbs
YES GALON, I HAVE SEEN HIM PLAY!!!!
The number of games or times at training or what have you doesn't matter because like always you will try and challenge my opinion.
Focus on the topic at hand, not at me :)
Re: Trent Stubbs
Galon,
I have seen enough to know that if Jarryd Mortyn has got a spot on our primary list, then trent stubbs should have one!!!
Actually, for the better, if Jarryd Mortyn has got a spot on our list, then Richie Stubbs might aswell have one....
Re: Trent Stubbs
Simple.... because he has the quality and ability to go straight on to the primary list. When he goes to another club and you watch him develop in to a gun then you'll see why!!
He is by far the best story out of the scholarship program and now to possibly not seem him...
Re: Trent Stubbs
What beats me is that Stubbs rejected the chance to join his brother at west coast under their scholarship aswell as I believe Sydney.
To have this guy train with the main group, staying with luke hodge and everything else, it's unbelieveable that he has not be signed and...
Re: Trent Stubbs
This is some really bad news.
I have been following this kid from the day he signed with hawks scholarship program and to be honest, if he has taken the cash over being loyal to the club and repaying the time, effort and funds invested in his development then he can go...
Ladson, will be come good dont worry.
As for these delistings, just heard Mark Evans on SEN who advised that Skipper was a casualty of the new interchange rule and with 7 ruckman on the list there was no further room.
While he had a great year, we need to move on, Hale is the upgrade, Hale...
With all the latest delistings, I would not be surprised if we take all four of kickett, mahoney, stubbs and langas. The club has invested heavily in to this up and coming batch of scholarship players.
Stubbsy was highly sorted by the eagles before signing with hawthorn under the scholarship...
good post leather.
End of the day, we got our ruckman.
We paid the market price but we still got a ruckman.
I think skipper will still be in best 22 as the 3rd tall forward, hale and renouf to take the rucking duties and the three of them continue rotating between forward and ruck...
5.5 games in 5 years is also a worrying prospect.
It appears Hale has been drafted because
1. Bailey is not going to be ready this year, hawks to take their time getting him back on the pitch.
2. Chances of a full recovery are slim though there remains a slight chance he can get back to...
From what i have heard there are three KPD in the ND who can slot in to a team straight away? Please correct me if i'm wrong.
It's highly doubtful that three KPD will last past pick 20.
Id rather hang on to 1st and 2nd round pick and go to the draft.
I'd offer the dogs pick 52 (better...
Dowler will become a gun.... before he had the accident, people were talking about him being a number one pick.
If he overcomes the fear of putting his body on the line then someone will have a 60 - 80 goal forward on their hands.
I want him TO STAY and PLAY.
Re: Chris Pelchin
Fair call Brant and good post. It becomes frustratin as a supporter to see low picks lost in such a way. It's not even about Pelchin.... it's about general recruitment.
You will not always win... you are correct. Draft is a gamble but the whole point is we wasted 2...
My thoughts are picking up 2 or 3 guns is not a successful recruitment drive especially with low picks. Buddy and rough were picks 2 and 5, how many of these players are duds!!
And we won a premiership because we had a different game plan than 15 other clubs. THE CLARKO CLUSTER!
Just like...
Re: Hawthorn interested in David Hale
I posted this in another thread and i'll post it again. Our ruck stocks are good. Our ruck stocks are sufficient and carry us to a premiership.
Bailey, Renouf, Skipper, Taylor, Lowden, Grimley.
Hale is 201CMS @ 102 kegs
Bailey is 206 CMS @ 101...
