Has anybody on here who lives in Perth thinks that will the Eagles have to put a cap on their membership eventually. The Dockers are in a totally different scenario at this time and will continue to grow steadily.
Can sort of confirm about the South Africans. We have several in our family group. A common comment from them was "Never heard of Rugby League until arriving in Australia. A small sample we know but there it is.
Who are the shortlisted - Found this posted last month ----
"AFL executives Andrew Dillon and Travis Auld, as well as Richmond chief executive Brendon Gale, are widely seen as the front-runners for the role."
Is it correct.
Well its about time we had a look at footy in Europe so despite all the problems of 2020/2021 it continues to tick over per AFL Europe.
AFL Europe is conducting Championships soon.
Here is some promotion material of the event
With an exciting new location for the 2023 Champions League, final...
Yes I would agree about the rest of QLD being NRL land with a few pockets of our game in the locations you mentioned. You are actually on the ground up there and will have a much better Idea.
The guy I spoke to was a builder and had built his own house and had a big boat in dry storage, but was...
Well I had a conversation on the weekend with a Collingwood supporter originally from Melbourne but now residing on the Gold Coast for quite a few years.
We naturally discussed our game up there after he brought the topic up.
In his opinion where he lives he was quite optimistic about AFL growth...
We have rellies in Armadale which is very slowly changing - Yes I know there is an Aboriginal population there but it appears to be stagnant or in decline. The Council has opened up new areas and young couples are moving in who are linked to the lower end of the financing market and Armadale was...
Good comments. Cooky is a good operator and learnt the footy business at the mighty Eagles. There is still a lot of solid money in Perth with thousands of FIFO`s up North - However there are also patches of battlers/low income the same as anywhere else in Australia.
Will be very interesting to...
Very interesting situation could happen with this announcement - The Libs have the NSW State Election coming up soon and the polls are saying it is likely they will lose the election. So IF the opposition win will they follow through with this project.
Well despite the best efforts of some on here who for their own reasons cannot accept the idea that a 3rd team will likely come from North of the River just watch it happen. God for bid dont mention Joondalup as a possible base which is not certain at this time.
Where do you think the future...
Actually I like Jan 1 1901 as a possible alternative to the current set up. Dont worry there was a lot of haggling to bring that date about - It was not smooth sailing.
Well Well Brian Clarke still plugging away with his own efforts. Well remember his trips to India back in the day and his sojurn in England as well in the BARFL days.
Off topic but related -Sort off.
Just realised the Aussie Women Cricketers are playing a 3 match series against the Pakistan Women, which means something I suppose. Apparently the Pakistan Women playing our game up there wanted to go to the Asian Champs also but no sponsors.
As someone who inhabits the outer AFL world I am wondering what minimum crowd size the ground in Tassie should be for the new club. Would 30,000 cover it. Also would the AFL Admin have a big say in that as part of the deal.
Will have to correct myself - The memory banks are not quite as good these days.
It was the Australian Womens Soccer Captain who said that the AFLW was formidable competition for players. Personally I think she may have been referring to the fact that AFLW players are edging to higher and higher...
It is likely that there will be a rise of some degree. However I also clearly remember that a group of Womens Soccer Captains said that AFLW is a formidable competitor for players.
The poms wont have Sammie to score some of their goals though. Her brother Eagles Daniel Kerr said she wanted to...
Our family follows the Perth Scorchers and were very happy with the last over win last night against the Strikers. However the BBL is struggling to attract Internationals now and reasons given are -Many more similar comps with more money around -Players are more choosy where they go and so on...
Off Topic but related to AFLW Knee injuries and it appears that Womens UK Soccer is not immune to this topic.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11567473/Beth-Mead-wants-research-female-players-suffer-horror-knee-injuries.html
Very interesting no sports at all in her bio. What sports did she participate in at the College. On checking the College they have a variety of sports -The only Football code is Soccer which can be typical of a non heartland State college.
Some people would say does it matter, more likely she...
The guys behind the pitch invasion had planned to the detail to carry out the action. The police were outside waiting for them instead of around the pitch. I suspect something bigger than soccer here - Those incidents are very common in Poland, Hungary etc etc and they are political...
To expand on my comment about a Female CEO to replace Gil - Kylie Rogers is a name that pops up who has plenty of positive comments for the AFLW and is on a list of possibles for his job in some media reports. However who knows what will happen.
The Womens game should be easier to export at this...
Yes I did a lot of research on NZ footy back in the day and came across NZ Rugbys efforts to keep RL out of NZ - Some of it not very correct at all to put it politely. The early recruits to RL had a bit of a hard time.

Hi,
Just curious did AFL Canada ever get funding from Government sources at all or did Covid kybosh it all 2020 and 2021. Was it about getting certain numbers playing or attending training in the first place as a criteria.
I would say Finances and the will to do it. However AFL HQ has its hands full with getting the expanded AFLW Comp bedded down and now they are adding a AFL Tassie team to go to 19 mens teams eventually. Just to add it all starts and finishes with AFL HQ and their thinking- If we get a female CEO...
Footy in India - nothing has been posted so far on the Twitter feeds that usually cover the game over there. However neighbours - Pakistan fronted up at the Asian Champs just completed without a major sponsor it seems. The Pakistan AFL selected their squad from several locations so it appears...
Well dare I venture back into International Footy - Covid put the kybosh for 2020/21 on some International activities and Canada has continued on. Why am i here -to find out with the big schools program did that continue on and has it resulted in playing numbers increasing Covid notwithstanding.
