Training 2025 Training Updates | Standards are… TBC

I think this is fair. Young teams are significantly disadvantaged. The new CBA is farcical and more experienced clubs have players who are physically and game sense developed that are miles ahead of where we are at. And that in turn results in accelerated development of their younger players...

This is the thread yeah, posted quite early!

Player Watch #28: Jack Darling - has officially been traded to NM from WCE in exchange for #67 - welcome Jack

Refer the post about our forward line. We have no dynamic forwards …. And every other side does. Curtis. Zurhaar. Ford. Harvey. All the same player type. Konstanty. Hansen. Lack potency as forwards. It may well be we are relying on Simpkin, Parker and the mids resting to prove something...

Player Watch #44: Cameron Zurhaar - has re-signed until the end of 2029 - finishes 6th in the 24' SBM

Might be the one we can drop to set some standards. Gets stepped non stop, tackles don’t stick and struggles to get in front when he gets attention from mediocre defenders. I’m certain he will be great over the journey but needs a wake up call.

Player Watch #2: Finn O’Sullivan - selected with Pick 2 in the 2024 ND - Welcome to NM, Fossil

Awesome! Seriously it’s only a matter of time with the midfield talent we have that it turns.

Player Watch #9: Luke Davies-Uniacke [Part II] - '24 SBM - [AFL.com] NM have a "7yr deal worth $8-9m" in front of LDU'

There’s no doubt though that it would provide great leadership and belief to say I’m in, follow me this year, let’s roll the sleeves up. This journey will not be linear given the age of our list, but I am in and we are making this happen. I feel like Bull is damaged goods now, the love for him...

I’m generally an optimist but I do feel like other sides are recruiting for speed - GWS, Geelong, Sydney. This is where our lack of dynamic small forwards who are quick over the ground and laterally is sorely lacking and where the game has gone since Richmond won flags on the back of forward...

Player Watch #19: Griffin 'Gus the Goose-stepper’ Logue - sponsored by the NMFC BF board in 2025.

Noone else was lining up to get here. He’s given us some hope of stability down back, a wise head, strong personality for 3/5ths of Phark all. We have very few players in the 25-27 age group and he gives us that stability and hope his best football will be when we head up the ladder. I think...

Player Watch #29: Will Phillips [Part II] - Extends to End of 2025

Corey started as a mid in 2011 GF. The point is you can build a team around talented midfielders.

Player Watch #29: Will Phillips [Part II] - Extends to End of 2025

The point is they were able to play them in other positions and get enormous value from them. The others were integrated through the wings, half forward and half back and still managed to play minutes through the midfield. The point is versatility from players considered midfielders can be...

Player Watch #29: Will Phillips [Part II] - Extends to End of 2025

All played heaps of midfield minutes mate, in fact they all placed in the top 5 of the B&F when playing as predominantly midfielders at some point in their careers. They would have been A Graders anywhere else. Sheezel, Simpkin were forwards when they came to us, not mids.

Player Watch #29: Will Phillips [Part II] - Extends to End of 2025

Enright, Corey, Chapman, Kelly, Bartel, Ablett, Ling, Milburn, Selwood, Johnson. Pretty strong proof it’s possible.

Training 2025 Training Updates | Standards are… TBC

Disagree, the half forwards are part of creating entries and connection from half back. In addition, they create repeat entries through pressure, hitting targets, allowing set shots or halved footies which creates time to set up behind the ball. Missed targets hurt massively and all of the...

Training 2025 Training Updates | Standards are… TBC

I wonder what others think, but when I watch the best sides they seem to have multiple avenues to goal, and most of those avenues have tremendous skill level and the uncanny knack of kicking goals from anywhere or creating jaw dropping goal assists. We speak about this depth of half forwards we...

Player Watch #35: Matt "The Swingman" Whitlock!!!!! - selected with Pick 27 in the 2024 ND - Welcome to North Melbourne Matty

If you use Larkey, McKay, Petrie, Browb and Tarrant, who are probably our best talls in the last 20 years, 2-3 years is how long it takes for them to look as comfortable as this kid did today. He is such an exciting talent, I think they may have just nailed this pick and fast tracked our...

Player Watch #12: Jy Simpkin - 2025 Sole Captain. Deserved winner of The Polly Farmer Medal for the Indigenous All Stars with 30 disposals (18 contested)

Phark we are a miserable bunch. What an outstanding performance amongst a bunch of talented indigenous players from one of ours. I love it and so proud of a true Shinboner in an environment where he no doubt lead the way and showed what a great Leader he is again. He will get his chance over...

Player Watch #6: George Wardlaw - [multiple sources] - GW suffers 10-12 week hammy at training - no surgery required + will miss start of season

More importantly. What was the junk yard ban talk all about? Was he really banned from the Will Phillips chat?

Let’s not wash through any optimism at all guys! Best to just keep our heads down until these turnips deliver because we cannot bear to believe that there may be some improvement around the youngest group in the comp benefiting from cumulative pre-seasons. I’m so grateful that we have so many...

    Crocker Prospects

Dare I say with the last two premiership coaches being more Statesmen, Longmire similar, that this is what may be required by the modern day Millenial who needs more cuddles and love than previous generations. And Darren is a gentleman with more than a penchant for building effective...

List Mgmt. Brady Rawlings | Head of Football Talent (Recruitment, LM & TPP)

It’s the lack of negotiating skills. It may make sense but if it was common knowledge we wanted out of last year and into this year, the swap for the first rounder may have happened way earlier. Knowing we needed talls, surely they could have played the red herring if we can trade our way into...
