I’m all for ‘play the kids’ but come finals you pick best exposed form, we had the youngest finals team in the hunt as it was, Narkle’s form was pretty good and while not being ‘that good’ he sure as hell was not ‘that bloody bad’ either.
I also highly doubt we took Narkle to help lure Kossie...
If Butters is indeed contemplating heading back to Victoria, Richmond or North could be possible options and have picks that would put us in the mix for Doug.
What is ‘making it’
Is he going to be Tredrea or Carey? Probably not. He IS an AFL footballer so he has achieved more than most that are drafted.
If Billy Frampton can be a Permiership winning Key Forward, Ollie Lord has as much chance as ANYONE!
The Medal came into vein ‘late’ or recently, Warne didn’t play much ODI cricket in the back half of his career, injury and that pesky pill mum gave him saw to that. There was ‘always’ a rift between him and the rest of the playing group, possibly driven by S.Waugh if rumours are to be believed...
This is why Key Position players are never ‘developed’ rarely a 21 year old dominates blokes 5 years their senior giving up Strength and KG’s.
Lord needs an opportunity to play 15-22 games, he has ~15 under his belt to this point in time, judge his body of work after 50 games. He leads very...
Good business by all involved. He has a great year he is getting $600k for a period, sign now for 2-3 years at $180k. If he injuries himself again supporters will be cursing us for resigning him.
I think he will play 18 games and show a bit to be happy with and sign a 4 year deal by mid season.
I do believe 2024 was Williams body adjusting to 18 months of hard work, basically the old second year blues. He went from a zero baseline, div 4 Fitness to a Professional/Elite level and played a heap of games maintaining that level. This year it has allowed him to again build on that base, he...
Nahhhh, bat them into the ground. Still have another test to play, rip these spinners fingers up. This is a test match, not Mickey Mouse cricket. Other countries pad the stats in these situations and find ways to get a result. This could be Starc and Carey’s best chance of hitting 100’s.
Bat...
Not off a knee, SPP should have developed into a Wines and Drew trio of Smash Brothers. However his energy at Half Forward was sorely missed last year.
In the same vein as Bergman, not everyone needs to become a Modfielder, Sam’s value as a small forward is instrumental to our team and culture...
JHF has the ability to hit the contest at pace and gather cleanly. While Butters takes the ball on the move, he isn’t hitting the pill at 100% like JHF does. Once player is on the move players look to hold and scrap to defend. The quicker the player is moving the more likely the jumper is...
Again as mentioned in alternative thread, I would still play partial game time as our deepest forward, rotate he and Rozee between Midfield and Deepest Forward.
In a similar way Martin was managed, these two, while both good midfielders and JHF statistically ’Great’ their threat as Forwards...
Agree, but believe the TOG should be increased. Rest Rozee and JHF as our deepest forwards when not on the ball. Both playing 90% TOG.
Drew out hurts the quality of rotation with Wines, Butters I would have within that rotation and possibly a fourth for a small %. We struggle outside of Wines...
Khawaja will push 200 here, Smith looking likely also. Labuschagne playing to far in front of his pad for subcontinent conditions. McSweeney would have been better option if they picking horses for courses
Stupid not to rule Marshall out now, everything happens for a reason and when we wouldn’t give him 12 months to get the head right, the footy gods snapped an Achillies for him.
Clearest sign ever to give the bugger a year off.
From the limited exposed form I have witnessed, he is an upgrade in every way imaginable on Narkle, who I did not mind. However, let’s not forget he was plucked out of Wangaratta Rovers only a couple of years ago.
Don’t think Richards is an Offensive weapon as a small forward, not a Riolli or Stephen Milne. He is a work horse who is very good both ways. I think he is better suited to a Wing/Midfield role than a small forward.
