Not a chance a trade would cost that much if OOC.
We have no idea if he wants to be in WA or not... He might hate it there... In that case, why would he be better off staying?
If a player is OOC they tend to get to their chosen destination club.
My concern would be that we have just given up a R1 for Smith… we’d need to give up at least an R1 for Rowell (if he selected us) and then we’d be hard up under AFL rules to trade all our future R1s for Reid.
It’s all pie...
Would be very hard to get Reid at the end of next year if we snagged Rowell at the end of this year?
That's unless GC hooked us up with another golden deal.
He got a good amount of time in the guts early last year and was then removed to play an outside role.
Then he was playing on the outside late last year in the VFL.
Now he was apparently playing half back in yesterday match sim.
I think that’s a sign that we have conceded he isn’t ready to be...
I'd say every club goes after the big fish and most likely talk to all the decent players who are OOC or looking to move clubs.
The only real difference is that we are a destination club that has landed more than most clubs.
When we are linked to good players like Rowell etc... it gets taken...
It's gonna be hard for one of these younger mids to get a run this year.
They'll probably get a run in dribs and drabs unless someone really steps it up.
Knevitt is the one that could be ready to step up... but he was a noted "track flyer" last preseason and didn't look at the level when given...
If SDK is playing mostly ruck in match sim with Blitz key back, it pretty much confirms SDK is rucking this season.
Blitz to hold down key back until COS is ready perhaps.
I can't say I'm confident that Conway will do much this year already... I hope he gets a good run of health eventually and...
Good move drafting Conway then.
It’s hard to disagree with what you say about Scott liking mobile rucks though.
Even Josh Jenkins confirmed it and he was on the inner sanctum.
+ we have drafted Edwards + Molier since picking up Conway with selection 24.
Conway seems to be injured more often...
the thing about Dempsey last year compared to some of these other younger guys like Clark, Knevitt and Closhey is that we knew Dempsey had insane talent.
Clark, Knevitt & Clohesy are very bland players… not saying they can’t improve and eventually break into the team, especially for some of the...
He has been a tad underwhelming considering his god given talent.
Only time will tell what level of potential he can get out of himself.
If he wants it bad enough he’ll be a gun… obviously how bad he wants it is within question.
Extended for two more years last year... just 2 more seasons I think.
Even that was a shock considering the amount of long term contracts teams be giving out these day... Including the Doggies.
Reckon the short-term extension was saying something, without saying something.
I see Smith as more of an outside type like Holmes. Holmes is better IMO even though Smith's early stats stack up and surpass Max.
Our inside guys are low-game time players for sure. Bruhn, Atkins, Danger etc.
I guess if Smith is playing in the middle he will play less GT than he did in the...
One thing I have always wondered and will find out about Smith was is whether his stats were inflated because of the Doggie's high possession game style.
So many of the Dog's players would get a ton of the pill and share it around... MacRae, Treloar, Libba etc.
Might be different with us... It...
Yeah I don't expect him to come in and be plonked straight into the guts and be that guy to win clearance after clearance.
Smith's 1-wood is his outside running. He is a grinder who runs all day long (obviously crazy fit with zero fat on him).
He should be a handy cog in the rotation for us.
