It's got a bit willing over on the Nth board regarding this game. I don't think there is a lot of love for us over there. And it's only a practice match!
Prob a topic for a thread, but which board do you think seems to hate us the most....North certainly, not really noticed anything out of...
There are several blokes in your best 22 I don't rate either, but the point of the post was to let you know who we think is in our best 19 or so. That's all. It's just a practice match guys.
Deciding on the Best 22 is a bit tough for most doggy supporters at the moment and pretty sure the MC is in the same boat. Certainly it's consensus that Hargrave, Lake and Sherman are in the best 19 and are not playing tomorrow.
But the last 2 or 3 spots in the team are still swinging. There...
Yep was always on the cards. You would think we'd play somewhere in Victoria for NAB 4 now.
So the team this week should be a strong one and week 3 we rest the big guns up.
There seems to be mixed messages here. What is the actual amount Brisbane had to pay Fevola in the next 2 years? How much are they actually paying him? What amount goes into their cap?
If they have got some sort of discount in their cap then that would seem very unfair. Someone please clarify.
I think the idea should be about best preparing the teams for the season. Instead we play a shortened game, with different rules, extended benches and this year the triple header with it's variables. I thought the triple header would have represented good value, but I thought the games were...
Re: Round 1 2011 Team
Some good points there. But if Lake is fit he must play, that early draw gives us every chance to get off to a good start. But yes there are worse teams to play without Lake being there. I certainly agree if Lake is not back by rd 2 then best to leave him out till...
Re: Round 1 2011 Team
I agree that Lake needs to be 100% to play, none of this rushing back like we did Johnson last year.
Markovic is the obvious replacement. He showed on Sunday that while he's not a top liner just yet that he does compete well and puts his body on the line. He would look...
I don't think we'd go after him he's not the type we tend to go for young or old.
I will be surprised if he does play again. He's had a few chances now, and at two teams. I think he has probably run out of chances. Cousins got his second chance at Richmond, Fev got his at Brisbane. I...
Re: Round 1 2011 Team
Well...not saying he's among the first choice in that position, rather that he is capable at playing there if required, and could be called upon to do a job as a sub if we got an injury to one of the first choice KPD during a game. Also it's a bit unfair to base it on...
Possible Practice match strategy from here.
We have 3 practice games to go.
What we know is that other than, Murphy, Cooney, Reid, Barlow, Hargrave and Lake, all the others have had full preparations so far. Hudson and Hall did play the intra club but missed the NAB 1. We also know...
Re: Round 1 2011 Team
Well can't agree. Not frighteningly obvious at all...in my books anyway.
He looked pretty good to me yesterday and in the intra club game, I must admit I had just about written him off...but I always keep and open mind and don't maintain a set on anyone and so far he's...
Re: Round 1 2011 Team
I think Murphy will play back for a start. I think we would be looking for pace on the bench so Djerrkurra is in front based on that. Roughead or Minson will play, I am favoring Roughead this week.
Veszpremi enhanced his chances this week and I think they will elevate...
Early days for him. His aim would be to hold down his spot at Willi and perhaps a few games with the dogs at best.
It's just his second year. We do need to give these guys some time surely?
I thought we fiddled with the ball a lot yesterday. Especially early on against North. Too many handballs for the sake of it.
We struggled with Geelong once they employed the press in the center, which we couldn't find a way through. So we need to get better at dealing with it.
I thought we...
I simply cannot agree on those three guys. Gia is very brave footballer inconsistant maybe but not soft I won't buy that he was terriffic in that area last year.
Higgins is still young and has had injuries that have robbed us of his best.
Bob Murphy well...he's terrific player who was...
We love all our children equally....but some more equally than others.
It was always going to be one of those p*****g contest threads, in my eyes there is no team more important than mine. If it's not in the comp....then for me it's see you later!
Yes I realise other sports get backing, but rich sporting bodies like the AFL don't need it. Our money is better spent elsewhere. If the government keeps providing the funds the AFL will just sit back and do as little a required.
Well I'm not talking about periodically wiping debt, we are...
The comp has never been in better shape financially. The clubs for the most part are getting their acts together and I believe the AFL is helping this but probably needs to do more in this area.
If there is an area of criticism I have of the AFL is lack of willingness to spend it's own money...
I think what you have said is spot on, and a lot of posters have said the same. But Crawford was alluding to was that it's Muprhy's attitude that's at play here. That's the part I don't get. Do we want Murph on the park playing at his best, of course...is it his lack of effort that he's not...
6 of our best 22 not playing and most of them are inside our top 10 players.
Not sure that makes it that strong a squad? But the squad is pretty much how we expected it going by the preseason.
I did think Hall might have played at least some of it. But I am very happy that those guys are not...
I think the our kicking had been off in general last year. Players that never used to turn it over by foot were doing it more and more. Boyd was the worst case last year and it was put down to his hand injury. But he was at it again at the intra club. Not what the stats are, so I have nothing...
I have seen enough of Cordy to know he's a far better prospect than Cam White. Cordy has great skills for a start. Cam White just never had the ability, Cordy does, just needs time and some luck with the body.
I got on him 2 years ago after watching him tear up an intra club game, but his season was not that great as it turned out.
I think last year he took a step up. Was great in the finals and he won the best and fairest.
So it's hard not to get exited about him this year, there is a thread where...
He played on Hall in the intra club and while he did ok in parts Hall was able to get off him pretty easily at times. So he's not first, second or even third choice tall defender. He would come in only with a couple of injuries to our tall defenders.
But he seems to be a neat user of the ball...
He played in the intra club and moved well. He looks like he's actually got bigger and taller...might have been the new hair style?
Ward is on my radar for sure. But like Higgins and Murphy he's had a history of injury in his short career. But if he stays fit he'll be a good one.
I personally don't think I will have either, at least at the start of the season. If we get an injury or two then maybe I will.
The only reason is that there are guys in the same price bracket at other teams who will play most weeks because of the layout of the teams they play for. Wallis and...
