Rumour Multiple GWS players are set to be suspended to start the 2025 season after distasteful costumes and skits from their post-season function

What about twin towers dress ups? Offensive to bar staff or acceptable? If there's six players suspended seems like those two have also copped it.

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Post Season

The deal was done but it seems we made a commitment to him that we would get Baker and compensate Richmond well. It would be a big hit to our credibility especially with player managers if we reneged on that.

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Post Season

12 + 14 was the best offer we got. It's a fair deal based on the latest draft points system and in a supposedly deep draft. Owies would not have been delisted. He would have gone to the draft or would have been traded somewhere else. We split 3 for 12, Baker and Graham effectively not 12 and...

Taking into account what Pyke and WCE_phil have said the trade does make more sense. Pick 3 (which wouldn't give us the player we really want) for Baker, Graham and Pick 12 (hoping a player we're targeting is available there)

    Speculation Clayton Oliver [UFA 2030]

Whilst I think Geelong's success is 90% attributable to just being well run, if they get Oliver and Smith for "less money" and two late firsts there will be a bit of pressure on the AFL. Especially after the Bowes deal. There's not much they can do though. There are no farm crates full of cash...

Prediction Round 8, 2024: Changes vs Essendon

https://www.afl.com.au/stats/team-rankings?CompSeason=62&GameWeeks=-1 Our average disposals per game this year (315.1) is the lowest for any team since at least 2012 (AFL site doesn't have prior seasons, excluding 2020). Only 276 on the weekend which must be extremely low for a team that was...

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Edition

I imagine there's one person at each club who spends a fair bit of their time looking at a spreadsheet managing this kind of thing. Contracts can be renegotiated mid year to front-end or back-end money depending on available cap space. I think there's also a bit of flexibility if you go...

Prediction Round 7, 2024: Changes vs Gold Coast

We could easily reduce the travel burden by staying the week in Melbourne for back to back games three times a season. I'm pretty certain the AFL would have no issues accommodating this. I could be wrong but I think the problem is players/coaches don't want to spend additional time away from home.

List clean out is urgently needed

I had a look at our drafting since 2015, I think we've done an OK job given the picks we had. Venables, Brander plus the Kelly Trade is what really thins it out.

Autopsy Positives and Negatives vs Sydney

Without Naitanui we needed Williams to halve the ruck and Shuey, Kelly, Yeo to carry us with 30 touches each. Instead they had zero impact for the first 45 minutes and the game was over before we scored. Rotham and Hurn are a bit worrying but I thought Barrass, Witherden, Foley were good. Hard...

    Medical sub

My idea for a sub rule with the following "fixes": A team can have two players out through injury/concussion and still have a full interchange (IMO needed for finals). A team isn't significantly advantaged by having a player injured. Subs get guaranteed game time. 4 (or 3) Bench plus 2 Subs...

Past #23 Buddy Franklin - Thanks Buddy

There's a Geelong player at 1:24 (lower-centre of shot) that makes some aggressive moves at two of the spectators running on the field. Not a good look.

Should AFL players take a pay cut to support the development of AFLW?

The TV deal is a bit under $500 million per year. I feel like this is wishful thinking or you are making this up. It will be very difficult to convince the male players that simply paying the AFLW players more will somehow result in more AFL viewers and more pay for them. They may concede a...

Society/Culture Should we continue to lie to people about the risks of climate change?

The latest information is freely available, I don't believe the IPCC reports are dishonest. Whilst there are "alarmist" parents and teachers out there, I'm not sure what can be done about it, it's a complicated topic. IMO aiming for under 1.5 degrees is also dishonest, that's barely more than...
